Heat on without being on?

I live here in St. Louis and it was 50 outside this morning. As I am driving to work I smell the dust burn like its the first time the heat has been on this year. That would be a normal smell with the heat on but my system was completely off? I put my hand near the vent and sure enough some pretty warm air was coming out. I turned on my system to see where it was set and it was at 71 like I normally have it. Immediately cooler air began to come out. Anyone else experience this? I did have my heated seat on if that may have triggered any automatic warming..BTW 2008 TL

Even though you have an 08 my 99 has done this a couple times. Even though the system is off you still feel warm air coming from the vents next to the doors.

look on the firewall where the heater hoses come out- for a small valve
that opens to allow hot water to circulate and operate the heater
It can get stuck in a partial position-
shoot some wd or similar on it and retest
