Headlight Washer Mod?

Has anyone come up with a mod to add a headlight washer (like the BMW cold weather package)?

Here in Colorado we get a lot of mud/slush on the headlights during the winter/spring which means you have to stop every now and then at night to clean the headlights if you want to see (old eyes need lots of light). I was thinking about adding a second pump and reservoir (if there's room) along with nozzles from some car that has the right spray angle and pattern. I also planned to run the hose such that it gets heated by the engine block.

Has anybody already done this?

That sounds like quite a bit of work, but I'd like to see it done.

the heated washer is ideal. buick has heated spray nozzles now that spray something around 105degreesF water on the windshield to melt ice. i dunno why nobody did it sooner.

well most cars after they are warmed up the windshield washer fluids heats up.

i notice in my car it will steam a little.

doesn't really do any good since the heater probably already melted the ice.

headlight washers are just a pain. my a4 had them before and it really didn't help. it had a seperate pump and the pumps and the sprayer heads always broke.

why heat it, just get like rain-x washer fluid or equivalent, i don't wait for the ice to melt, i just spray that stuff on the windshield and in like 5sec i am golden. i think the mod may be easy if you plan it right, i'd start with getting the devices, i'd tap into the existing washer bottle we already have. may be more work then its worth though?

I've had the washer fluid freeze in my car before and not spray until the outside temperature was above freezing for an extended period of time, so engine heat really isn't that effective in heating the fluid in the reserve. The companys that heat it must have another trick.

Ive thought about it a few times. It would be a Very easy mod. All you would need is 2 washer nozels, and a 2nd pump. the oem tank has a spot for 2 pumps already but is only using 1. Then you would just need to wire it up so that you could control the spray with your windshield washers or seperatly
