headlight seal question

I know this has been discussed a ton...but curiosity is killing me. I pulled he headligt assembly out and there's definitely water in it. but as he water goes sround the seal..its not leaking out. i don't want to rip the lens apart if I don't have to. could it be just where the ballast goes in or the light sockets?

Inspect all the parts again there has to be breach in one of the seals.

I said screw it and just pulled it aoart and resealed it. There was a TON of water in it which fried the ballast...I thought the bulb was shot so I bought replacement bulbs..Oh well..

for others try clear flexseal or clear silicone seal all around the lens edge

once moisture gets in its time for new aftermarket hid ballast setup with bulbs
www.hidextra.com is popular on here

I would personally get OCI Rubber Butyl from TRS; that stuff is amazing and fairly easy to work with! http://www.theretrofitsource.com/acc...bber-glue.html

I would probably also get replacement ballasts/bulbs from them! They are honest guys who sell great products and have even better customer service! They have really come through for me, along with many others I'm sure!

I don't think you are fixing the problem correctly. You don't need to re-seal the housing. The problem is the RING SEAL between the ballast and the headlight housing. Replace the ring seal with a better one or thicker one will fix the problem. You can also try to trim down the housing plastic screw footings, that will allow you to tight down the seal further. Even if you wanted to re-seal the housing, seperating the housing cases take a lot of time baking it. Just use any good glue or silicone and seal it from the outside seam unless you really care about the cosmetic look then do it the hard way.

From dealer. I believe they have better seal quality now. If you look at the old seal, it is just like sponge. it obsorbs water, then the heat from the ballast will send the moisture into the headlight housing. I applied the wax to the seal so it wont absorb water and that fixed it without getting a new seal as my old seal was in a good condition.
