Headlight problem... please help

2 weeks ago my drivers side low beam at times was not turning on from time to time. I just figured i needed to replace my bulb soon. my light finally stopped turning on like 4 days ago so i purchased the replacement bulb and had it put in at a nearby gas station/shop but when it was plugged in it still didnt light up.

has this ever happened to anyone?
any ideas what the real problem is?

i would look around to see if someone already posted something similar but i dont have time to search around cuz i need to be in class in like 20 min

thanks!!!

fuse is fine...

how much does the igniter/ballast cost to replace?

any other possibilities other than that?

our headlight system is made up of ballast, igniter, and bulb. the ballast is the most likely culprit. they are about 300-400 at the dealership, sometimes even 500. you can find some on ebay for about 150, ballasts from s2000s tsxs and tls all work with our system, the ballast from a cl will NOT work.

edit: try switching the ballast from one side to the other. its located on the bottom of the headlight assembly and youll have to remove the headlight to do this.

Take the ballast from the passenger side and plug it in to see if the light works, if it does then you know the drivers side ballast is bad. If it still doesn't work, plug in the passengers side igniter, if it works than your original drivers side igniter is bad.

i bought a new ballast and bulb for the side that was having the issue but after plugging everything in, both sides wont turn on anymore. occasionally one or the other will light up... sometimes even both so i know both ballasts and bulbs are good. fuses are good
the fogs and high beams work fine, low beams wont work properly 90-95% of the time

do i have to replace the multiplex control unit?

has anyone had this issue?

Your Igniter is bad!!!!

I am having same problem. My driver side lamp was blown so changed both side lamps but had same problem like you. I have swapped both side ballast/igniter and found out one igniter is bad. Still looking for new Igniter.. But I am sure that is because of Igniter.

Yes they do. Also check the headlight fuses before you do anything.
