Headlight ballast question, on part numbers
Can anyone tell me for sure if similar looking ballasts work interchangably? I find several with a close, but different part number than mine. Mine is X6T02991, Im finding X6T02981, looks identical.

When mixing ballasts, the only thing you need to know is their wattage rating. I believe there's only two types currently available a 35 watt and 50 watt rated ballast. Just get the correct wattage if you want them to match.

35 watt ballast is stock rating, stock bulbs were 4300K color, harder to find that rating
so most use 5,000K and love them.
I would not buy a used or new OE ballast with their seal issues!
An aftermarket `kit` with 2 new everything including bulbs!! are only 60 to 150 dollars!!
depending on maker, see the many low beam threads for info
Not all bulbs work with all ballast- whatever issues they have- are real!

Agreed with above.. don't get OEM ballasts.. You're MUCH better off getting a quality aftermarket one.
The ones I use are from The Retrofit Source Inc.
