Good news! Tranny Fluid is still Red after 1 year
Team TL,
I took my TL down to the Air Force Academy Auto Hobby shop to change out my oil and do a drain and fill on my tranny fluid. I am on my 2nd tranny that was installed in Dec 05 and I am happy to report that my tranny fluid was still very red in color and hardly any shavings were on my magnetic drain bolt. Not red of course like fresh out the bottle, but certainly the red color was clearly noticeable.
I was expecting a heavy burnt smell along with dark fluid and a ton of shavings like the first time I changed it on my old tranny, but it was a nice surprise that this fluid was looking good. I didn't do a (3 sequence fill n drain) procedure, just drained about about 3-3.5 quarts. Since almost half the fluid came out, I am assuming the rest of the fluid that didn't come out looks the same.
So, it seems that the new updated tranny's are holding up, at least mine is!

2003 TL Type S
Saw your note and I'm trying to do some homework here. My Transmission is going and I remember having a recall on this back in December '04. The dealer installed an oil jet @ 31,000 miles.
I'm sure this is related to transmission problems, but Acura won't replace mine at 79,308 miles. I have the same model as yours. Did they replace your first one?

The best way to find out is to call Acura with your VIN number or register your car online at Acura.com.
