if it was toe out -that kills mileage as the car is trying to go opposite directions!
If it was toe in- its constantly skidding into itself

I'm going to guess its the way you drive, and everything is fine with the car. Seems that in most cases its the drivers who are the problem, not the cars.

well my 03 tl-s is about out of gas it has 1 gallon left b4 the gas light turns on. so far i have drivne 235 miles to the full tank.I filled 14.5= $25 I filled up tuesday looks like its going to last me a whole week. Which is not bad, but still feels like its taking to much gas. 14.5/galons/ 235=16.2 mpg, it doesnt seem right.Hope i cna atleast reach 250 b4 i fill up. I take it easy in my tl. Im in the same boat as you bro..

I've been constantly getting about 180mpg per fill up, at least since the "winter" started here.

For some reason with the winter being here im getting about 255-265 on a full tank all the way to empty with the light on. When i first got the car i was getting 200-210.

I did an oil change and im about 2 get my NGK spark plugs this week so maybe mine will get even better

Mileage thoughts...

I am surprised at some of the mileages per tank listed, I get at least 350 to 400 miles per tank. I drive 50 mile to work, and try to keep the speed under 70 with cruise control. When I put foot into it 80-110mph, i tend to get the 350 miles per tank.

I just added seafoam before my last fill up, and it has seemed to increase my distance, if not at least the response seems quicker.

Plugs, Oil, Filter replaced after seafoam.

02-TL-S about 102K miles.

Could it really be that different across the country (weather zones)

Do you drive mostly freeway?

Seafoam I heard stories about that and i don't want to do it. I think once i change my spark plugs i will be getting better gas mileage.

Short drives and city driving will kill mileage. Thats about normal for city only driving.

Red face

03SSMTLS and 2000TaffetaTL I knew i was not the only one with this type of mileage. I have a 00 w/66,000 on the dash, I really thought I was crazy. Please tell me what you heard bad about seafoam as I just purchased some today. I do believe that my my driving style has something to do with the poor mileage also got an alignment I think that helped a little. I hardly put my baby on the eway. I think everything is up to date gonna do my plugs this weekend.

Thanks guys my gas light went on today.. i have 250 miles to the full tank on the dash..i double checked my last fill up receipt it was 13.5 gallons that i filled.. so 250/13.5=18.5 mpg seems about right for my city driving.. but i wished i got about 300-350 like some of you stated : (. I miss my civic.. i will drive a few more miles befor filling up so i can put atleast 14.5 gallons this time.

The dealer asked me to buy a tank of gas and keep the reciept from time of purchase when I bring it in on friday he will check my mpgs against what i put in (friday=full tank)till time of drop in (next friday=empty tank).
unless you need to defrost the windows - there is no need to run the car for 5min b4 driving off. - car gets zero mpg then. remember when temps are low the rear end oil is thicker - also tire pressures can decrease 5 pounds from 70 to 25' f

some what, but its in the trans. the oil in the engine and trans is thicker do to the cold weather which makes the engine work harder to pump the oil through the passages.

`have 250 miles to the full tank on the dash..i double checked my last fill up receipt it was 13.5 gallons that i filled.. so 250/13.5=18.5`

what matters is how much it took to refill the tank to full THIS time, and how many miles you drove on THIS tank - you got 250 miles this tank- how much did it take to refill???

a nice 50 mile commute is going to get the engine properly warm and used, result is better mileage.
Those who warm the car till it has temp reading, or drive under 10 miles to work, really need to read the owner manual chapter on the subject of cold weather
It suggest a weekly drive on the freeway to dry out moisture and carbon, otherwise mileage may suffer

With ever changing temps- check your tire pressure!!

IN cold weather-defined as below 32F, is where the W part of your oil is actually working.
The oil base is its higher number-viscosity at 200F, and W actually stands for Winter!
Special additives in the oil make it perform like a 5 viscosity-low friction, easy cold flow oil,,,so there is not strain on the oil pump in cold temps. As soon as there is normal operating temp 180-200F, the oil is its normal self again of 20 or 30 viscosity index.

Okay got 227 on my dash before the light came on so 13 gallons to fill divided by 227 =17.5
not the greatest but still what the owners manual says i should get. So today I foamed and it was great. Now that I have the confidence I'll do it again.

do you let ur car warm up? that's a gas killer

winter gas is a killer

usually more load on car due to electrical demand if you constantly use your heated seats and mirrors rear defog and AC (front defroster)

around here in the winter there is overall slower average speed and more stop and go.

I have had my CLS for quite a few years and last week was the first week ever that I got below 20mpg average 4 days of snow every day + parking low = daymn...

I usually average 23 city and 31-33 highway

I have a problem with gas mileage as well. I have an 03 tls and it currently has 109,000 miles on the odo. All the require maintenance has been done including tune up, flushes, spark plugs, etc. As far as mods I have AEM CAI, XS headers and small resonator off. Only thing I need is an oil change soon. I only get 250 miles to a full tank and this is recent. I am thinking that it could be the XS headers thats causing this. I heard and I try the fuel injection cleaner or fuel treatment and see what happens then. In the meantime anyone got any guess on whats the problem?

BTW I use to get at least 300 miles to the gallon and I do street/highway, if that helps. In most cases I am very light on the pedal. Dont know... sigh*

possible egr port cleaning needed, the passages like to get plugged up- not the valve itself- but the ports in the intake manifold
On gen2 its about every 75k miles and they have to be cleaned

Also bg44-seafoam-something to clean the injectors and entire intake system is in order
Plenty of info in the DIY section
