Flashing D....
Oh this sucks, well first of all ever since its been 50 degrees outside my car runs like a beast, a lot faster and more responsive than it was in 80-90 degree weather. Anyways so yeah my foot has been a little heavier, but yesterday I punched it from a dig and noticed all of a sudden the CEL came on and the D was flashing. It was driving and shifting just fine but I pulled over and reset my ECU. This morning driving normal I drove to work everything was fine until I had to open the gates to my shop. I put the car in PARK and opened the gates, as soon as I got back in and put it in D I noticed there it was flashing again with the CEL. I always drive in Sport mode. I dont know if this has anything to do with the cold weather or because my car has A lOT more torque than normal and the tranny can only take so much. But I dont know if its indicating the tranny or the engine. I have a 99 tl with all the bolt-ons and a lot of reduced weight. I know these trannys hold up a lot better than the 5-speed auto trannys. But like I said I dont know if its the tranny sending that code or the engine. Let me know what you think.

your car making more torque than the trans can handle..... NO..... Get the codes read. All we are doing is guessing otherwise.
Could be the trans dying, could be a tranny temp sensor. Either way dont keep driving it because it "seems" fine.

^^^Hahaha, a LOT more torque eh...must be some amAzing bolt ons...but I agree with the above - pull the codes, and probably stop driving it. It could be fixable now, but you could be causing more problems every time you drive it, and end up screwing yourself.

One of my friend had this same problem in his 99, his CEL light also came on and the D was flashing, he changed some sensor located on the tranny, then the car worked normal again. The main cause of the sensor failure was one of the side mounts which was broken and the engine rocked side to side!!!!!!! Car runs fine now.

JDM INSPIRED! Thanks man I think you are right. My rear motor mount is completely shot. So what you said makes sense. Anyways I got the code read and heres what came up:
TRANSMISSION GEAR SELECTION SWITCH CIRCUIT FAULT.
PROBABLE CAUSES: 1-OPEN OR SHORT CIRCUIT CONDITION
2-POOR ELECTRICAL CONNECTION
3-FAILED GEAR SELECTION SWITCH

anything like soda get spilled into the center area??- where it leaks down onto the 3 micro switch electrical shift connectors?
Look under the drink holder for residue, that will kill switchs- they are cheap but a pita to access under the shifter plate

I have spilled soda in the past but yeah I had to tear that whole shift plate and console apart. I will definitely do it again to check it out. Thanks
