Flashin D5, VSA and ! symbol

I was on my way to Houston for a wedding this weekend. Got exactly half way from Dallas and Houston, and the car felt like it dropped down from D5 to D2 then back up to D5. Had my daughter, neice and sister in the car so I wasn't too happy about the real possibility of being jolted into reverse. Slowed down and then eventually stopped under an underpass after it did it again. 4 hours later and a $560 lighter from a towing bill, the car is at the dealership. I'm expecting to see my name included on the tranny failure thread sometime today. My question though is how much is this going to cost me. I love my car and don't really want to sell it, besides who wants a great deal on a non running car. It's an 03 TL-S with 101469 on it. Any hope for that recall to cover this high mileage. I drive across country as part of my job. If someone could drop some links on this thread for service bulletins or whatever else I could use to plead my case in front of the dealership, I'd be much appreciated. It's at Vandergriff in arlington,tx if anyone has any leads.
Thanks,
jmwmnl

What are the last six digits of your VIN? Some 2003's are covered by default to the 109,000 mark mentioned above.

If you're a lucky one like me (who gets the pleasure of calling Acura later today about a tranny issue), your VIN is in the group of 2003's not covered beyond the normal 50K mile warranty, but still has the same transmission problem.

Try this

I believe the cutoff VIN for 2003 is 019061 - I'm 05xxxx & am showing first symptoms of failure at 61k miles.

Price for the replacement tranny plus labor/tax is $3127. So much for getting my performance parts. I guess that'll all have to wait now. Tried the link and my VIN isn't covered. Last six are as follows: 023834. Thanks fellow TLers

Try to speak to acura customer care and see if they can help you at least covering the part cost, and you pay labor. Good luck.

As acutee suggests, don't give up just yet. There have been many reports of goodwill transmission repairs for the "no-warranty" 2003 TLs. Even if you can't get full coverage, you might be able to get some sort of discounted repair deal.

And they might even cover or help out with the towing charge. I'd talk to your local Acura dealer first and take it up to the service manager level. If they can't help, call Acura's national Customer Care group and see if they can get involved.

Good Luck!

Bob
