FL CV axle issues

Hello,

Was doing the wheel bearing DIY on my front left wheel but am now having issues with my FL CV axle. When I went to reinstall the left steering knuckle on the car, the axle wouldn't push as far into the inner CV joint as it did before I started the repair. The section of axle that leads into the CV inner-joint sits about an inch outside of where it used to before the wheel bearing DIY. As a result, can't install the steering knuckle since the spindle sits too far out. I can also pull on the axle and rotate the spindle into a new position.

As far as I can tell, it looks like the axle is seated in the transmission - I've been giving it a few good pushes.

Pics, 1 showing the max I can push it in, the other pulled out a bit: https://1drv.ms/f/s!AiVfGdmePMiN-zCD88Xa08rnm2gS

Do I need a new CV axle?

Thanks!

Ended up just replacing the axle since I was already there. $30 to replace the old rusty axle was well worth it imo even though I prob just dislocated the inner joint.
