First Post- Instrument panel problem

Hi everyone, first post here.

I have been having trouble with my instrument panel. I just bought my first TL (2000) a few weeks ago and everything seemed to be working fine. The previous owner told me about an issue that he had been having with the needles falling down and not working intermittently i.e. they read 0mph/cold temp/empty/trip counter not illuminated. When I drove the car for a test drive, it happened only once, just for a brief second.

As I have driven the car more, the needles work less and less and now they havent moved for about two days. All the other lights (inside and outside) work fine as well as warning lights brake lights etc. I thought this might be a loose ground somewhere at first but now I am not so sure. Does anyone have any ideas as to what this could be?

Thanks for everyone's help!

Welcome Folfin !
Could simply be a loose connection behind the dash panel. Perhaps the vehicle speed sensor is faulty for the speedo. Chances are that the dash panel may need removed to closer inspect for the problem. Replace the mini bulbs while in there.

There are some other posted threads available by searching the subject, also check the "DIY" sticky for info.

I will tear into it tomorrow, or before the end of the week, when its a little more light out and see if there is anything obvious back there. I briefly looked before posting and it looks as though someone has already been back to check it out (from scratches on the screws and around them).

Thanks for the reply! I will keep poking around and see what else I can find.

In case anyone cares, I believe I fixed my problem. I went in and tried to resoldier the connections but to no avail. So I happened to check Craigslist and bought a new cluster. The new cluster works great but the mileage is now way off. I have researched this problem but most of the information I found has to do with analogue odometers. Does anyone know if Acura can swap over my odometer or if there's anything I can do to remedie this situation?

Thanks for everyone's help!
