Engine will not crank over. 1999 Acura TL
Acura TL 1999 has 123k miles and will not start...
Engine will not crank over. Battery is brand new, i reseated and re-tightened the battery cables. Dash illuminates, radio comes on and windows roll down after I put the key in..
the ignition switch recall was taken care of according to the online records on the vin # also, I have replaced the ignition switch as well with an aftermarket one 4 months ago for stalling problems which fixed the issue.. I can hear the hum of the fuel pump right before the key goes all the way forward upon attempting to start it..
Also, the same problem occurred a couple weeks ago and I pulled all the fuses, checked them (all were good) then put them back and the car started right up. Very strange..
Any suggestions?

start with the basics, do you have constant 12v to the big terminal on the starter and power to the small wire on the starter when the key is turned to the start position?

you dont need a multimeter, a simple test light will work.
if you have constant power at the starter and power to the small wire on the starter with the key to the start position. you need a friend to turn the key while you probe. then your starter is suspect.
do some diagnoses before you start replacing parts, corroded battery terminals, bad conections can cause the same symptoms.

I agree with cking cables- just because its tight doesnt mean its good inside,
ground cables in particular are important--and been failing as reported here
I defer to acuratech on the specifics of the TL electrical diagnostic
Have you tried a jump start from another car?
Yes could be starter failure, but I would ck that new ignition switch,,often the last repair done ends up as the next problem~
