wuz up guys recently i replace my 1999 engine+tranny for a 2002 swap but now my car is stock on 3rd gear my speedo dont work and cant see how hot the car is can use the spot shifter or anything can someone please help me out

 

I think changing the engine/tranny isnt enough to make everything work correctly. You also needed to redo some wiring and you also needed a new ecu I believe along with a laundry list of small things. You might want to ask Kris (fsttyms1). Good luck. Yes serious problem = 99TL 4speed sportshift and 02TL = 5 speed sportshift....

i know i got the 02 computer with the key the shifter and the cluster from the 2002 car i need directions on what to do

 

first thing to do is to get the ECU installed and key reprogramed to work. Then see what doesnt work. The ECU controls the engine and tranny and is most likely the reason its not working right. Once you do that you can see whats not working.

As for directions on what to do your on your own. no one has done that here yet. (other than me and my 6 speed swap) and my wiring was alot different than yours.

 

I looked into it when my engine died, Many things to change. It was not worth it. Tranny, ECU, Cluster, Wire harnes a ton of sensors ect. Plus I was told the car could always run funny if not 100% done perfect.

Good Luck bud but I think you are in for a lot of tech time and work to totaly fix it.

 

If you're on your own then I might sugest buying a manual repair book from ACURA
and start from there .....

 

straight tl-p to tl-p shouldnt have that much to change. TL-to TL-S now there would be more into it, but still not much i dont believe. (even easier for those that have the 02-03 models)

 

finally got my 99 tl-p running hard with the 02 tl-p engine and my 03 type-s computer lol so much faster then the regular tl-p

Why did you put a TL-S ecu on aTL-P. They arent designed for each other.

 

isnt the vtec point on a tl-p 3800 rpm and the tl-s is 5500? hmmm.

 

it runs really hard i love the way the vtec sounds... i also raced the 05 tl-p and i smoke the car by 1 car... i also raced my boy 99 tl-p and smoke him too... only car the beat me was with me was a 07 tl-s...my car be chirpping when it shift to second gear on a auto tranny but my problem is the i cant use sports shift mode lol but i dont care i got a 5 speed 1999 tl-p lol

Dude, you were better off with the 4-speed.. you're guaranteed faster tranny failure with the 5-speed. The only way at this point in time to get the non-failing tranny is from the dealer once your transmission dies... and they're not going to want to deal with the what you've done the car already... so be prepared.

Since you're in jersey, I'll be there to visit a friend soon... I want to see this monstrosity in person.... and even so, I'm sure your car won't be able to last long against mine.

came see for your self this project too me a long time but is done... i bought car with the 02 engine in it.. but never ran good because of the ecu but now it works am gonna post pics of my car with the swap in it... my car has 175000 so there is no waranty on my car... if u wanna test drive it stop by in jersey

Im sorry, but just because you have a Type-s ecu doesnt mean you have type-s power.The ECU isnt where the extra power is coming from. There are many things on the engine that are doing that. You still have the TLp motor in there. You arent making the power the type-s does, so as far as "smoking" people im sorry im going to have to say Lets quit the bashing now or ill close it up
