Trouble comes in bunches ( I posted another problem in its own thread regarding mirror drop down). Like much of the rest of the Acura world, my tranny is probably on its way out sometime soon. A few miles from home on a cold start I get the sudden lurch like I just hit the brakes for a split second. It did it again the other morning and I hit the gas to "clear the problem". Yeah, right. The rpm remained around 2200 even though my foot was off the pedal. The pedal had returned to normal and there was no sloppy feel under my foot. I could control my speed with the brakes but the engine remained around 2200 rpm. I pulled into a plaza parking lot and got into position so a tow truck could access the car if needed. (Good thinking JC ) I turned the engine off, waited a few seconds and started again. Up went the rpm to 2200 or thereabouts. Turned it off, restarted and it returned to idle speed, maybe a little below idle ... just under 600. Normal operation ever since but that was only a few days ago with only short around-town trips. I had this happen early in my driving career with a used car that had mechanical linkages and a cable had interferred with the return spring. That's not the problem here and no, the floor mat had not jammed the pedal. The problem is under the hood in my estimation. Anyone else have this experience? JC

 

check the spark plugs and the coilpack

samkws: thanks for your reply. You are just down the road from me so to speak. (Burlington). Holiday Monday tomorrow so it will be Tuesday at earliest and more likely near end of week before I can get to dealer. Will post results. JC
