Smile Electrical Question

I added some 100 W fogs to my wife's odyssey. Used an add a fuse with the original 15A for the right headlight and a 15A a for the fogs.

Problem is that the fogs keep blowing the 15A, can I put in a 20 A or 25A and still be safe with the circuit?

Thanks for the help

How do you have it wired up? Do you have it wired into the factory wiring or did you run a separate wire and used a relay to control the fogs only when the head lights are on?

Wired into the headlight switch, so headlights on=fogs on

The biggest question is the fuse was originally a 15A for the L headlight, can I go to a 15A and a 25A or 20 A with the add a fuse for possibly a 40A load on the circuit?

Im guessing you splice directly into the head light wiring? The wire is design to carry current to the R/L headlamp only. Adding a fog lamp increases current in the wire, thats why your fuse is blowing. So the Answer your question is: No you cannot go to a higher amp rating fuse unless you want the wires to burn up and catch on fire.

You have to run a Separate wire to the fog lamp w/ relay+fuse.

no sense in chancing a melted wire. you can buy harnesses online that wire right to the battery for applications like this.

quick question though, the foglight fuse is blowing or the headlight fuse? because if the fog fuse is the only one blowing then maybe the issue is how you wired it. did you check for ground anywhere?

My bad I wasn't very clear. It is powered via the battery and had a switch to independently turn on or off when the headlights were on (switch went bad so pulled out of line) which is why headlights on-fogs on.

If the power is from the battery, I assume there is no additional current in the headlight wire.

Need to check the ground. Thanks for the help
