Door Actuator Removal
Door Actuator Removal
Hi All :
Well, my passenger side door would intermittently stick so I took off the panel and tried to remove the actuator from the door. After removing the three screws holding the lock in place and one from the bottom of the window track, I can’t seem to drop the unit out as there are two rods going up to door handle keeping it in place. I can’t even see the attachment points as they are in the rear of the unit. Also, the assembly seems to be in a “deadly embrace” with the window track. Anyone out there done this before ?
Anyone have pictures or diagrams of what these things look like ?
……..and yes I need to stop being cheap and buy a workshop manual.

Thanks for the reply.......but still need help
Hi Spiro :
The thread you pointed me to does not indicate how to remove the door lock mechanism. I cannot see inside the doorframe and I'm afraid to get too agressive as it might damage the lock itself. This is after I take out the three lock screws and removing the wiring....duh.
Anyone had these apart and can tell me how to get the lock actuator out ?

I know this is a pretty old thread, but did you figure out how to get the actuator out?
Yesterday when I got home I went to put up the rear passenger window and I heard a snap and then a lot of grinding. I look and the window is slowly sinking into the door.
I pulled the door panel off today and it looks like one of the actuator cables broke or came loose and I don't really see any way to put it back on, not to mention I think the cable is all tangled up and I hear grinding everytime I even touch the window up/down.
So, my question is, how do I get that whole piece out and is it something I could replace on my own? (I'm not an idiot with tools, but I'm definitely no mechanic.)
I'm guessing this is the correct part I need?
