ummm...... you got a transmission code, and it needs to be taken care of (and hopefully your transmission has not taking a dump either)

still has a code in the computer's memory, that needs to be taking care off, do you potentially want to damage that freshly rebuilt transmission of yours then? (idk, but it might be worth taking it back to the shop that originally did the transmission work)

no that would not be good if it was damaged.

if anything it will more then likely going into some type of limp home mode if needed, to try and protect the tranny while that code is present (good chance it will stick it into 2nd gear if needed), but as said there is potential of damage, but if taken care of right away probably will be just fine

but it got your attention though , and get that tranny code checked out ASAP (and the check engine light, is more then likely the transmission computer telling the engine computer, that a code is present and to turn the check engine light on (cause sometimes those D [or D5 in our case] like to burn out, and you would have never known about it otherwise)

been driving in snow??

regardless- get it to the shop today--well monday~
yeah for warranty!!!

a freshly rebuilt trans can have 100 problems occur in building or install that will trigger the lights..most show up in the first few months of driving it

Many shops have to rebuild the trans 2-3 times before they get it right
Even acura units are assembled by low paid humans.....you figure it out

have to disagree with fries and Limp Mode

True the ECU will go into that if it believes the engine speed has been overrevved (false code from trans speed sensor) then it MIGHT go to limp mode and limit rpm to 2500
to protect the engine,,thats the part the ecu cares about blowing up~

Mine had that code and D5 flashing, but didnt LIMP to the dealer when I got my trans a few years ago. Tech told me they knew it was false code, really meaning trans slippage, since the car sat there running perfect

don't be so sure, had to repair the wiring on a friend's 02 TL, for the counter shaft speed sensor (a bunny chewed it btw); and the transmisson went into 2nd gear as default by the ecu, as a default/ limp home mode (it gives alright power, while still not excessively revving the motor) (and as soon as it was repaired and code cleared, it was back to normal)

so YES THE THE ECU will go to a default mode for the transmission also OLD FUCK

my new years resolution is to give up caring what the youngsters think~

sure when a rat chews the wires--thats a different story than a normal car symptoms!

maybe my old eyes missed the part about his car was in limp mode
the ecu can and may do anything it wants at any moment
who knows how that thing thinks!!

So I am wrong this early into 2011,,better to get the 3 times out of the way for the year

ok. so i went to a local shop in houston cause i didnt want to drive the car very far. They said they came out with three codes, two for the solenoids, and the other for complete transmission failure. well i called the guy who rebuilt my transmission back in huntsville, and he said this guy in houston is full of crap and that there is no such code for a complete transmission failure. thus he wants me to drive it to their sister shop in conroe where it would be covered under warranty. so what should i do.

, and they might even pay for it too if it is a warrenty issue (and a easy way to explain the reason, it was to prevent doing any damage to the tranny)

and the complete failure code you are referring to, is not so much the name of it, but one of the codes, that is VERY often associated with complete tranny failure/death, and having to get it rebuilt (i can't think of that code currently though )

so more then likely it was indeed locked into limp mode, aka 2nd gear

and was it all the solenoids? or just one?
and was it a power or grounding issue?

and iirc, there is actually a ground inside the harness that only protrudes like an inch or two out, and grounds to the trans casing with a bolt, so not much to see, so very easy to miss, i never knew about it till i had disassembled my automatic actually, and was like WTF, (it's actually not even part of the main harness either, but a part of a sub-harness)

anyways, at least by the sounds of it an easy fix (which i would imagine being warranty too, because they never put that bolt back in, or tightened it up properly)

well got the car back, and it does the exact same thing, after a little bit of driving it goes and starts having rough shifts, and starts to jerk back and forth. I am going to call the shop tomorrow and see wtf is going on.

this is why I always suggest you ask the shop how many TL trans its done in the last year, does that tech still work there
Can you call past TL clients to get their total cost and opinions a year later

How many comebacks (return on tow truck failures) do they have on our trans
Other stuff they work on has no bearing on our trans!!

if they are new to our trans- it may take 3-4 attempts for them to assemble it right
Dont be their test pilot--is my opinion
