d2c vs d2r
replacement interchange
just make sure not to twist the bulb in any way as you install it and put the external electrode in the same position as the one you removed
Hold bulb in place and clip retainer into lock- done!
wear rubber or latex glove to handle new bulbs
skin oil causes hot spot and early bulb death
Use the new lights as much as possible- takes about 100 hours use to get fully burned in

Here's a quote from one of the forum vendors, Excelerate, on the KAIXEN D2C bulbs he sells:
D2S bulbs are specifically for vehicles with projector headlights; D2R bulbs have a shield since they go in non-projector headlights to try to minimize glare. D2C bulbs fit both D2R and D2S applications while still minimizing glare. The KAIXEN D2C bulbs don't have the glare since the technology they use is superior to others'. These are OE replacement HID bulbs and will not jeopardize a warranty since they are a replacement bulb. And at $100 for the pair you can't touch the quality or price.
I'd imagine that D2R bulbs may be slightly more expensive than the D2C because they include a shield to reduce glare. Based on the quote above, the D2C bulbs should still work, but a follow-up with whoever you bought it from may be in order? If I pay for an item, I expect to receive what I pay for and not a suitable "substitute".
