Cruise control cam repair

Had the cruise control on my 01TL fail. Searched the site which lead me to the black plastic cruise control cam. The outer rim of the cam had failed allowing the lug at the end of the cruise control cable to disengage from the cam.
A couple of solutions were (1)to drill a hole below the lug mounting point thru the cam and with a small wire secure the lug to the cam. (2) Wrap wire around the ends of the lug and jam the lug back into the cam. (3) God forbid, replace the throttle body, as for some unknown reason the plastic cam is not sold as a separate item.
Anyway, as an alternate thought here, I repaired mine somewhat permanently using epoxy. Got some of that two part stuff in a tube, says it holds up to two tons. Mixed it up and let it set for a short time so that it gets tacky enough to be say a workable consistancy. In the mean time I put some super glue on the cam where the lug contacts it and secured the lug into place. Used the little spatula that comes with the epoxy kit to mold the epoxy around the lug and form a bond between the lug and the cam. Works OK.
As an after thought, could of used a small "cutout" of duct tape to make a "form" on the outside of the cam and built up the epoxy over the lug a bit higher.
Hope this helps. Be sure to get some of those latex gloves, as you don't want that epoxy on your fingers.
