Question A couple questions

Hello everybody. It's been a while since I posted on here so bear with me. I have a 2003 TL-S and my maintenance required light popped on a little while ago. Nothing too major right? But I seafoamed my car about a month ago and right after I was done and turned the car back on the check engine light came on. I haven't had the time to do anything about it. And just now my oil light is starting to blink at me. I checked my oil and I basically have no oil. Before you ask, yes I have skimmed through all the DIY's, I just want some opinions. I'm going to get an oil change soon but I'd rather do it myself. My main question is, is there a specific oil filter that our cars use and if I were to do it myself where does the filter even go? I'm thinking maybe the check engine light might be on because of the no oil, but that just might be me being stupid (which is more than likely). And on a related note, does anybody know where I could get a diagnostic for the check engine light if it turns out to not be the lack of oil? Thanks in advance. Sorry for the lengthy post.

First thing is to top off the oil look for leaks, when was the last oil change ?
The oil filter is located by the passenger side wheel
For the check engine light yes theres the Vtec solenoid code that might have come up.
For the sake of the engine don't turn it on with no oil it will cause further damage.

My last oil change was about 7 months ago. I know, I know should've done it sooner.

Have you noticed any leaks? if not then it might has to be consuming it.
When you go to the parts store just tell them your model and year they should know which one you need.
When changing the filter make sure the old rubber seal comes off with the old filter and install the new filter with the new seal, When you take off the filter it might make mess so have something to catch the oil drips. Good Luck Keep us updated on the outcome.

your choice of filter and oil,,it doesnt matter
but try and spend more than 2 bucks on the filter~
top quality are k&N or Mobil1 filters

synthetic oil 0w-20 for Your car is covered in snow most days
plain or synthetic 5w-30 for your car never sees snow

its based only on miles since YOU last reset the system with the trip buttons
can be done at any time,,not just oil change
maybe yours is broken?
