Cool feeling!

Bought an 03' Type-s on Tues, sitting on the side of the road surrounded by smoke with a molten transmission on Wednesday. Awesome. Had it towed to nearest Acura dealer for about $280. Dealer called NAC ( I also bought a fully comprehensive warranty) the next day. NAC said they were denying the claim because it was pre-existing.
Dealer said repairs would be about $7000. That included re-manned trans, shifter cable and $383 starter and labor of course. When my car died, It was in drive going 75mph. On the side of the road, the trans would not shift into reverse or park...stuck (melted into) in drive. Cars don't start if they are in drive or is it just me. Dealer says they need to start the car to fully assess the damage and says it needs a new starter to do that. A mute point, since nobody wants to pay for work yet. I will not have work done here more than likely. Nice guys but way overpriced ,and the starter thing.
Does anyone know a great company to get a remanned trans with warranty and do I need ECU, or does anyone include ECU with trans. Do these companies even know about the ECU or do we all have to learn about this stuff on forums.
Thanks for listening. Think I"ll go puke again.

did you buy it at acura used? who issued the warranty?
read your warranty
have a lawyer read the warranty
pre existing condition? because we have a problem that some cars wear out the clutches early? hardly legal denial there

if it was breakage of the 2nd gear/shaft--the wheels would have stopped turning- at speed!
is that the scenario?
recall issued in 2004 to install external oil jet kit on trans for 2nd gear oiling
if that was never done, failure from its breakage should be covered under the old recall/warranty

what exactly are they basing denial on?
they are major bsing you on trans price, some VINs do need the new pcm and its programming

the other parts--what did you do to the car? how did a starter and shifter cable get damaged?

note for others- if trans has clutch slippage and stops driving- park for 30 minutes to let crud settle off filter screens and you should get another 15-30 minutes at a time from it

The good news is a used trans/junkyard from certain years of accord and Odyssey can be slipped into the TL,,about 750 for trans,,500-750 labor to do the whole job = 1500

Hey Bliner01, sorry for your puking luck !
Did'nt you do any research prior to buying this car ?
So at least you were entertained with a "cool feeling" while your TL was "melting down" a day after purchasing your ride. "Awesome" .......come on now !

$7000 for repairs ? .......... How much did you pay for this TL and it's "NAC" warranty ? I'd be calling the better business bureau now. Hopefully you did'nt go on a "kill the TL for thrill" joyride.

I had my transmission fail TWICE, same way as yours. Mistake 1, you towed your car back to Acura dealer.

After I first got the car last November, it red-lined at 90mph in D5. ATF everywhere, no gears. Towed it home, changed fluid and it lived. Last month, when driving off-road all gears but 2nd failed. Drove home in 2nd gear, changed fluids. After first change, it moved but was locking up when driving (as in front wheels locking up completely at 45MPH). Did another fluid change, it lives and drives.

It's been a while but I had tranny rebuilt. The family owned dealership paid half because they felt bad. I saw the shifter cable when it came out. Mechanic said he had never seen before. The end of the cable was melted off...O...F...F. I wil definitetly remember not to tow to dealership. The reason I had it towed there was because it was the closest shop I could find (on the side of the road) between where I was and my house. I was 100 miles from home.
