Hello, first post. I have a 2000 TL with 78,000 miles and maintained very well. Wife is having problems with slow and rough starting and the CEL on. Sometimes the TCS light comes on but not always. She called me today and it took a long time to start and then a while for the engine to smooth out. I come home and of course it starts right up and runs smoothly. CEL still on. Went to AutoZone and here are the codes in order:

301, 305, 306, 300, 1399, 304, 302

I replaced plugs about 15,000 miles ago with NGK ZFR5F-11. I put some Seafoam in tonight to clean stuff. I got new plugs and 1 coil to try.

With this info, what plan of action would you suggest on the coil. I plan to install the plugs tomorrow and then reset the CEL. Thanks for any and all tips!!!

 

Just take the coil and start with #1. Reset ecu and take for drive, repeat till you find the troublesome coil. (odds are your spark plugs are just fine and new ones arent needed.

 

Put in Seafoam, changed the coil on #1, reset the light and has been fine ever since. Took the plugs back for a refund. Dealer wanted $149 to diagnose. Coil was $44. Done. Thanks for the tips!!!

 

Is that the price for a coil from Autozone?

 

Yep, Duralast C1221 for $44.99. Find em cheaper on line if you have the time, but wife's car was running bad and hard starting. Got the system check for the codes free So dealer wanted $$$ to just diagnose and we can go to Autozone and get readings for free. Works for me!!!
