Cleaning carbon from engine
Cleaning carbon from engine
My 2000 3.2TL suffers from piston slap in the #5 cylinder. I have read this may be caused by carbon build up. I have also read there is a product called Seafoam which can be used to clean carbon from a car’s upper engine. It is fed into the intake manifold through a vacuum line. Has anyone ever used this product on a 3.2TL? Are there any major concerns with using such a product? Any other thoughts on the piston slap? My car has 160KM
just look up Seafoam, you'll find LOTS of threads about it and how great it is. Deep Creep is Seafoam in a spray can which makes it easier to control. If you haven't used it...get on it! There is a DIY for all generations.
I doubt your TL has piston slap- these engines run tight- 200k miles is barely broken in.
It may help to do a cleaning of the oil system as well-
install a new oil filter, add 1 can of seafoam to the engine oil and drive. See seafoam diy and website for details on monitoring and when to change--
100 miles drive and change oil and filter- along with the gas tank and vac port at the throttle body- plus spray clean the Throttle Body plate inside its housing- that gets really bad from smog equipment
