CD jammed in stock player, Help!

For no apparent reason, a commercial CD is jammed in my 2003 CL--I get an error code, it will neither play or eject.

I called dealer, they want $450 to remove and send it our for repair.

Here are my questions

1. Does anyone know of a do it yourself fix? can I make it worse by trying?

2. would I be better off buying a new after market unit than paying to repair this one?

3. Any other advice?

thanks in advance for your help

John

Better off by getting aftermarket Player. stock player doesn't read burned Cd's. Heres what works for me make a fist and hit where you insert the CD in hard couple times it might help.

what year/gen are you talking about? 1 though 6 are cds that i burned.

my #6 wasnt accepting cds when i got it. I stuck a cd in partially and wiggled it up and down which fixed the problem. I suggest something similar. Wiggle and see if you could somehow pull it out with a tweezer.

if not you should still have 5 other cd bays.

Search the forum for tips on removing stuck CDs. Some of these, such as banging on the dash, don't involve taking anything apart. They don't always work but they're worth a try.

That worked for me too. I had the same problem a few times and I just got another CD and started poking the one stuck with it until it finally popped out. It may not come all the way out, so you'll have to pinch it out with your fingers or use tweezers, you may scratch the CD a little, but a least it'll come out.

CD's sometime get stuck in my changer as well, if its the same problem as your having. all you have to do is take another cd and lightly press down on the cd in the changer that you can see...if the door opens that is, and it should come right out.

but you could have a different problem then me and it may not work im not possitive.

good luck!

Question CD Changer help!!

i cant get the little front load door to close on my frontload factory system, i think that is my problem (i keep getting error message and cant eject cds)...is there any way to get the door to close and/or why it wont close? the error code is ER-1. i have an 03 acura tl. I have an empty disc slot (#3) as well but i dont know what number the player is on. i just want to get the freakin door to appear/come down to fool the system into playing and/or ejecting.

Wonder if the banging trick will work? do you bang on the side or the front of the console?

IM COMPLETELY FRUSTRATED!!!

When my stock 6-CD changer on my 2003 TL freaked out, it would only load CDs to slot #1 sometimes. It took a while of fiddling, turning the unit on and off with the eject button depressed, but managed to eject all six discs.

It was a pain in the butt. The dealer said they would send it out for repair. I would be without music for about a month. I opted for a HU replacement. New unit plays CD-R and DVD-R discs.

With the palm of your hand bang where the acura sign is above the cd player, that works for me.

cd stuck - 03 tl

Hi, same problem. burned cd with label too thick got stuck. can't get it out. tried all suggestions. acura wants $350 min to fix and 6 weeks. local radio shops, circuit city, car toys won't replace because of amps connected to speakers. they say would have to replace the whole thing. don't know whether better to replace whole thing or let acura do it..radio and cassette still works....ugh this really sucks...

Did you try all the suggestions that you found in the forum or just the ones in this thread? There's at least one other method, involving a thin piece of metal like a nail file.

See this thread:

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=111409

And you can find used OEM radios for much less than $350.

Check out http://car-part.com/index.htm , ebay and the Black Market forum. There are units listed as low as $100 on car-part.com. (Be sure to ask if they've been tested and if they come with a warranty or return policy.)

And, as another option, many forum members have successfully installed aftermarket radios. Search the forum for details on that. "Aftermarket" and "radio" should do the trick as search terms

Good Luck!

you can call your local acura delearship to get the codes. I'm not entirely sure but I think there's an acura owners website that you can register your vehicle and attain your codes this way too. someone else would need to validate me and give you the link.

either way, make sure you have your VIN number ready
