Car shakes when accelerating from 45-55mph
I recently got some new 19" wheels (19x8 +48) /tires (225/35/19) and about a month later I was making a turn into a park....my front right wheels hit the curb and the lip got dinged. If I were to describe how hard the wheel hit the curd on a 1-10 scale...it was about a 4-5. I drove it around after to see if the wheels were really bent and didn't notice the steering wheel or the entire car shake. About a a few weeks later I noticed that my car started to shake when accelerating from 45-55mph so I brought my car into America's tire. They ended up doing a road test on each wheel, re-balanced all four wheels, and put the dented wheel in the passenger rear. The car still shakes....so I decided to bring it into the Acura dealership to have it inspected. Acura told me that my all my suspension was fine, no issues with the axle, and that the shaking was caused by the 19" wheels....in which they noted that they do not have the right equipment to re-balance my wheels. I took it back to America's tire and they ended up replacing one tire in the front passenger side....still shakes to this day. What should I do...replace front axels? Please advise? Thanks.
Do you still have the stock tires? If so put them on and see if it continues. If it does, bring it to a GOOD alignment shop and have them inspect things that may be bent or damaged like control arms or balljoints.
I put the front stock wheels on as the shaking appears to be coming from the front. My car still shook but not as bad as with the 19's. I thought about the alignment being off or having Acura check the motor mounts. I am bringing back to the Acura dealership one last time and if they can't figure it out....I'll take your advice...bring it to a good alignment shop. I just don't want to waste uneeded time or money trying to figure out the cause. Thanks.
the alignment shop is les time than the dealer trying to figure it out!
Go to a place with Hunter equipment
Have you had the rim itself inspected? If damaged at its hub, then the axle is likely damaged as well
Balljoints and tie-rods get bent in light bashes with solid objects
