Question Car hesistates to move after a halt

I am seeing a lot of hesitation when starting my car after a stop at a traffic light. I have to push the gas pedal..(rpm goes to 3-4K) and only then it starts moving. Once in motion, it seems fine, shifting sounded little abrupt. Can this be a transmission problem? My car has 115K on it (first tranny). Same symptoms are there for reverse gear, sportshift and D5.

Just to give a little background, a few days ago my car was 1/2 submerged in water (I was in the chicago area and there was a lot of rainfall). The check engine light was on for a few hours, but it has went away now. I have driven 300 miles after this incident.

Do you guys think calling Acura dealers will help? May be they'll offer free tranny

If it is your transmission, and you've got 115K, I would go to a dealer ASAP....if you're VIN matches, you should be covered up to 114,500 miles. They might not cover you 100% since you're technically over-warranty but I'm sure 01tl can give you more info about dealers giving good will.

Thanks newperson, I am actually at 114,167 miles, so I might be covered by this warranty thingy. I am really glad I posted here

However, I am still not sure if transmission is the real issue here. Will go to the dealer on Monday.

so from a complete stop the car doesnt move until u give it gas, right? check your transmission fluid to make sure that no water got it (i was also in some deep water in chicago but luckly nothing bad happened) it should be redish in color, if it looks like a strawberry milkshake you have water in the system (im pretty sure that thats the color when water mixes with ATF)

I checked it today, looks fine. I would say it was reddish-brown.

Surprisingly, my car is working fine now. I guess it doesn't show the symptoms when the engine is cold. Yesterday it was showing those signs after 2 hours of driving.
