Can they check how fast I've driven?

Hey, I'm taking my car in for maintenance soon at the dealership and since the last time I took it in I've sped pretty bad sometimes. I'm wondering, can they check that? Does the ECU record it or something? I've hear they can do it in other cars, but what about the TL? An even if they can, will they for routine maintenance?
Thanks.

Why would it matter anyways? It's not like they're going to report it.

To answer your question, it's all record. G forces, rpms, throttle, speed and temperature to name a few.

It's all stored on the ECU. I dont know for how long or the data capture period. It's all there, including max speed.

Something tells me there is more to your post. Why are you concerned?

I'm concerned because my dad is taking the car in, and he wouldn't exactly be pleased to hear how fast I've driven.

These guys are just lying to calm you down. Let me be the one to tell you the bitter truth, once you dad is there they will give him a print out at the end telling fastest speed traveled, miles, how you have accelerated, and if you have spun the tires or not. Its over man.

- yea it also shows how many red lights you ran and stop signs you flue past.

man, you must have done something really bad that you don't want ur dad to know about.

seriously just dont even worry about it - cant you just reset the ECU? like there is a fuse or just unplug the battery right?

OMG you know our cars cant go that fast without everything falling apart!!!!

hahah im just messing with ya.

our TLs do a wonderful 140 mph with a relaxing comfortable ride. Its a thrill but please be careful wen you do that, its best to save that speed for the track. i bet our cars can go 140 mph for hours on end as long as you got z rated tires.

at least you weren't this dude http://www.ferrarifaqs.com/son-total...-stradale.html pretty old news, but still, if you total your dad's car driving recklessly, it's like kicking him in the balls, and leaving a fat scar. i would never let my son(if i ever have one) touch my pride and joy(the car, not the kid) unless he's a responsible driver.

Since when is 140mph bad? Doesn't he get bragging rights in this thread without getting jumped on? lol...

But you guys are lying to him. Everyone knows kids who got their cars from their parents have that gps tracking system installed where they can see your speed, where you're at, and what laws you've broken with the click of a mouse. Your dad already knows.

Mine does. The "parent installed version". I get a log on a website with current locaiton, avg speed, etc.

I get a text if speed exceeds 10 mph over the limit and/or if distance from home exceeds 25 miles.

We impose our own set of "fines".

OP: You get caught going 140 an your license is history -probably until you're 21 -and then your insurance will cost so much, you won't be able to afford it. You got your thrill; now slow down.

May I suggest looking into High Performance 1 day driving schools for everyone here.
Held everywhere there is a roadrace track-check the internet
Various car clubs rent the track during the weekdays-sometimes weekends and offer track days with a pro race driver as your personal coach- often riding shotgun in your car or playing lead and follow on track with you and a few other cars in line

on a real racetrack- with no oncoming traffic- 35 foot wide roadway to let it drift out of the corner on the power, with safe passing rules- supervision etc
many are about $250 from clubs- much higher at pro schools
The cheaper ones are staffed with volunteer instructors/racers who get testing time for their race car in exchange for teaching
Sometimes LE officers are part of the racers/teachers and will give you the thrill of having them wave you to go past them-- at 100mph and increasing down the front straight!! see ya officerrrrrrrr

You can learn more in 1 day than all the things you thought you knew about driving already.
Spend a month breaking those bad habits and practicing good skills then go back- again and again--its cheaper than any ticket, and driving at full throttle full braking full turning abilty for 20-30 minutes straight with no breaks--you learn a lot in a short time!

Most places you get 4-5 on track sessions plus 2+ hours of briefing/classroom learning the line thru the corners, where and how to brake-turn in - apex and exit point strategy and how to find them on your own thru any corner anywhere
Smooth is the rule~
save the speed for the track and the smooth for the road where there are untrained stupid people loose behind too much hp

hey bearcat-
what I think is really fun-- on a night you know they are not going anywhere near where they said,,,
GPS track the kids on the wireless laptop and pull up behind them at a light when they are way off the agreed destination route...maybe a block from the party of the year...
Call them up on cell phone..So-your almost at the library now are you???
OK get some milk on the way home, see you in a few hours--click---kids laughing as they think they have pulled yet another great scam off--

then you walk up and knock insanely on the driver window--yelling
Get your mom some ice cream while you're at the store~

Parents laughing as they have once again totally busted the kids-
How do they always KNOW!!!!!!

for all-
once you exceed 20-25 mph over the posted limit you enter a new zone called reckless driving, anyone hurt in an accident and its reckless endangerment
This means a mandatory trip to JAIL in many states. over a certain limit and you lose

100 will get you a ride downtown

Also occurs in situations like construction zone with posted 45, not working on weekend, its a bit foggy, going say.. 70 something casually down the road, and guess who was hiding behind the sign (this was years ago)
~Someones~ brother was lucky- it was fathers day- young daughter in car, cop said `the judge believes anything over 50!! thru here is "crazy reckless" in the fog`...
so you agree to slow down and have a nice fathers day cause I dont want to take you in today with the child in the car and all
whew~
We were glad he didnt see us just a few minutes earlier....had slowed down for the fog!

Construction zones, where everyone goes 70 thru the `special 55`, in Ca thats double points -double fine and reckless driving- $451 in speeding fines PLUS $1200 for reckless driving on top of that, and some bs court fees may total 200 for those!

Same thing for the Special Driving Zones with Headlights On required-
double double and reckless, they have those areas marked because of the high number of accidents along that part of the road...every town has a blood alley
No traffic school for those events either

Some stuff is stored in EEPROM. So even if you do a PCM reset, it'll still be there. For example, ABS trouble codes are one example.

I imagine it records stuff because of the VSA system. I think it monitors G-Forces, Speed, RPM's, Wheel Spin, and the load on the engine... Am I right? Correction?
