burnt fuse? PLEASE HELP! got no idea...
So, I was installing my vleds switchbacks on my 03 tl-s and was in my car, messing with the turn signal, and all of a sudden one of my headlights that was leaning on my tire tipped over and the turn signals and the one under it, the parking lights(?) (forgot what it's called) stopped working. The hid's still work, and my hid fogs still work. Also, when I put the turn signal on, the orange blinks on the led switchbacks, but the white doesn't come on when you stop the turn signal and the parking lights(?) doesn't come on at all. I'm guessing my + and - wires touched on the turn signal, because there is a little bit of wire that shows, and burnt out a fuse for the parking lights or something? I have no idea because I don't even know if there is a fuse or some kind of thing like that. Anybody know what might have happened? I really don't want to drive around everywhere from now on with my turn signals and my parking lights not working! PLEASE HELP GUYS! Thanks for all the help in advance.

ALSO! None of my gauges' lights are coming on either except the little window under the speedometer, which has my miles to date, miles on the trip, the door (open) indicator. All my other gauges lights and my dash lights are all out (including audio, climate control)! here are the pics of what I think got burnt out or went out.

Just check the fuses. Look in your owner's manual. I believe there are 3 fuse boxes, 1 at ea. end of the dash & 1 under hood. If you have a meter check them with that if it's not obviously open when you look at them.

don't believe i have an owner's manual
|
every fuse box has a diagram on the inside of cover
every electrical system will have a fuse and most run thru a relay now, those square things. you can swap one with a matched unit for testing harbor freight tools is giving away a multimeter free, ck your coupons in newspaper or mail or spend the few dollars to get one and test the fuses they control more than the item listed on diagram- first you need to expose the wires around the burnt area and repair as needed with in line crimp clamps or the new PosiLock inline connectors NOTE: make sure you know radio nav security codes before disconnecting battery remove neg batt cable before working on electrical or bad things happen when hot wires find a ground Be glad it was the car and not you that was the shortest path!! register with acura as owner 1 800 382 2238 x5, ask if all recalls are completed and here too, http://owners.acura.com/registration...erstepone.aspx can get online owner manual there need cars VIN for both |
Remove/replace anything burnt then solder the joint(s) & insulate with shrink tubing (don't forget to put it on BEFORE you join the wires) whenever possible. Connections are the weak points esp. ones exposed to the elements. I've seen many crimp connections fail- they are more likely to fail than a good solder joint. Use flux, practice soldering on scrap wire first if you need to.

I didnt figure they owned a soldering iron~
doing wires that way is better- and it an art form that must be practiced the new style locking quick connects-`posi-lock`- are very cool for working on the bike, and car,, one would guess |
ok so burnt fuse was replaced. now i got ANOTHER problem. so for our 2g tl's we have 2 clicks on the light switch bar, on the left hand side, behind the steering wheel. The first click turns on the turn signal bulbs, the parking bulbs, and the rear brake bulbs. HOWEVER, right now, when I put mine to the first click, the turn signals stay on and I can't give a turn signal for left or right because it just stays on. For the same reason, when I push the emergency light (triangle button) nothing will happen because the turn signals in the front and rear are all already on, and stays on. This is the same as when I turn on my drl's (hid's) on the second click. When all my lights are off however, I CAN give the turn signal for both left and right, but every time the turn signals blink, the square part of the dash, where it shows how many miles you have on your car so far and the door open/close diagram of the car, dims and brightens. When I turn on the emergency parking lights (triangle button) it also works, but when I open the door it makes the door opened sound every time they blink, and also dims and brightens the little square part on the dash. Here is picture of when the light switch is on the first click. Notice how the green arrows are lit. It stays like that constantly.

Damn I was going to get some switchbacks but you just made me change my mind.
|
no it's really easy. i just short circuited some lights because i had exposed wiring from my other mod, my angel eyes. switchbacks are SUPER easy now that i know what to do.
