Burning too much gas
I'm stumped. I sea foamed the motor and put an entire bottle in a 1/4 tank of gas, then replaced the plugs with the stupid expensive OEM plugs, new air filter, cleaned the EGR maze and intake manifold, use only 91 octane, drive it like a grandpa 100% of the time (my other car is my racecar) and leave nothing in the trunk or back seat and I cant break 300 miles per tank, not even close. I get about 240-260 with a mix of city/highway and again, I don't think I've seen 3500 RPM more than twice since I joined this forum. I'm thinking I have a locked up brake caliper or something, idk??
I looked into the brakes and it seems the rear driver side caliper is thrashed. Once I got it off, it took some major hulk strength and a C-clamp to get the piston to move at all and it was all dried up and rusted. I bet it's been seized for quite some time. I have no doubt that's my problem. I ordered Legend front calipers, OEM rears and new rotors and pads all around. Should feel like a new car after those, not to mention hopefully, better gas mileage.
I had the same or similiar issues and what it turned out was the O2 sensor was bad. the 02sensor regulates the correct fuel ratio and disperses it correctly. I changed both my 02 sensors (upstream and downstream) and not only my gas mileage returned but I'm getting about 40 gallons more on a tank of gas and the car runs real smooth and powerful.
My issue is similar to your.
Up until my recent drop in MPG I have/had NO ISSUES WITH MY 2003 ACURA TL. I mainly do city driving and perform regular maintenace.
Lately (last month) i Notice that I was losing mpg. I normally get 300 before the gas mileage light goes on but the last two times I avg 260. First I brought seafoam on the advice of a friend but nothing really changed, so after I filled up the tank the 2nd time I took my 2003 acura TL too the acura dealer for a correct diagnosis of the issue that caused my car to suddenly drop MPG.
This is what they told me could be the probelm. Normally i recived great service from the acura dealer but i felt this particular time they were guessing at best. They said, whatever is causing my low gas mileage could be resolved by some, all or none of these suggested maintenance I should have them do:
1. replacement Front wheel bearings
2. get an Alignment
3. Get the Induction Throttle cleaned
4. Replaced Air filter
5. Replace Timing Belt
6. Replace both Front & rear Mounts
7. Replace spark plugs
8. Replace Transmission Fluid
9. Replace Fuel Filter.
Like I said, I felt they were guessing at best. So what I did do YESTERDAY was: Replace Air Filters, Spark Plugs, Oil & oil filter, Transmission Filter and Added SeaFoam. I will replace my timing belt next because its long overdue. I'm going to fill up the tank again and see if anything has changed. I'll keep you posted. If anyone wants to comment on any of the above please do so. Any & all suggestions are welcomed

Quick question: Does ACURA TL-S have fuel filter? I didn't know we have one.
