Bumper Cover Sources?
Bumper Cover Sources?
The other night while on the interstate I hit a large shred of truck tire- Immediately got a check engine light and later discovered that the front bumper cover was broken in several places along with a fog light.
The check engine was caused by the wiring to the secondary O2 sensor being ripped out- replaced it with a Bosch from Autozone for $85, and after a few drives, the light went out (reset itself).
Now I have to deal with the bumper cover. Right now it's duct taped
I plan to replace it myself- but when I tried to order it, the place contacted me and told me that rather than the $30 shipping listed when I placed the order, the shipping would be $150! So I canceled it and was wondering if anyone knows where I can get a reasonable priced one with reasonable shipping- more like $50 and not $150.
Also, should I get it painted first and then install it, or the other way around?

I doubt you could get it shipped any cheaper due to the size. It's not that heavy, but the girth and length make shipping charges very high regardless of how or who.
Your cheapest solution would be to look at some local salvage yards, but many salvaged cars have front-end damage, so might be hard to locate a good bumper cover. Or you could order it from a dealership and pick it up instead of having it shipped to your home.
I would have someone paint it for you, then install it yourself.
