slotted not drilled rotors if you do repeated fast stops, like track days- otherwise stick with a quality replacement- I like the HAWK HPS brake pads- official brakes of the SCCA!
The car stops with no noise or hesitation

Maybe I can get some feedback on brakes for a TL which is not driven aggressively and is used under moderate condition? I would like to stick with a ceramic material, so I started looking into oem applications. I'm led to believe that Akebono is the oem supplier, but a few web sites advertise Akebobo oem application pads, and "Pro Stop" model which is still ceramic. I need brakes which will work well before the temperature is brought up under hard braking. So, is Akebono really the oem supplier, and what's my best bet, standard or Pro-Stop?

Your car came with ceramic brake pads oem

Do not be concerned with using oem- there are so many better product available. The car maker uses what it buys cheap in bulk-
you are buying to protect your life and those you love.

Many including myself- like the HAWK HPS pads, work at all temps, work REALLY well when you need BRAAAAAAAAAAAKES! Mine came from Pepboys and there are several vendors who sponsor this website and you can buy from them-shipped to you.

A few nice things on the HAWK pads, they have the backing plates already attached to the pads, the pad edges are chamfered/beveled edge to reduce possible noise from rotor edge ridge
If switching to HAWKS or any other good pad- turn the rotors if not replaced. There is a glaze that builds up n the rotor that inhibits correct operation of the new pads.
HAWK is the official pad of the SCCA and those guys run road races and parking lot races/autocross/pylons in all temps. There is even a winter slush series!

Thanks for the thoughts on Hawk HPS. I guess if they work in winter slush, they must stop well when cold.

So then which one would be better?

Hawk HPS Street brake pads (Material: Composite)
or
Hawk Performance Ceramic Pads (Material: Ceramic)

People were saying they like the HPS, but i thought ceramic was better. Can someone help me out with this?

ive tried the HPS pads too, they do grip a lil better but create more noise then ceramics. they also tear up stock rotors bad so dunno bout aftermarket rotors wit HPS pads?
