Cold Air hmm I remember being civic driver that meant askin for trouble lol but i will definitely look into it...bump that i Will be getting a CAI and a bottle of seafoam

save your money on the cai,, and do the intake resonator delete,,gets plenty of outside air brought to easy access for the engine to gulp as desired

its getting back in shape after storage,,maybe a little heavy foot due to winter boots? and those times you kept starting it and running at idle loaded up plenty of crud!
pull a plug for inspection
run seafoam thru gas at 2oz per gal fuel or 1 can to just under half tank
ck all your normal items- tire pressures- air filter didnt inherit a spider colony,,,
remember to clean the TB air plate
changed the oil?

most of us run higher than suggested tire pressure- if using 32 off the door sticker-thats low
for getting max gas mileage
ck tires max pressure cold at x weight, compare cars actual weight % of that
remove that % in psi and adjust a psi or two from there for comfort
example many low profile tires are 50 max cold,.80% car weight = -10psi = 40

I was running 37 psi for tire pressure for a while and although didnt really record mpg, the ride feels A LOT smoother going back to 32 psi, especially with wisconsin's crappy roads! Car is lowered on tokico adjustables, set on softest setting.
During our road trip (all freeway during summer), we got approximately 400 miles/tank with tire pressure around 40 psi. I am getting about 360 miles per tank on 2 occasions (tire pressure at 32) in wisconsin winter now. Difference of about 40 miles, but i am more satisfied with a smoother ride than the 40 extra mile (mind that car should yield better mpg during warmer seasons.

i cleaned out the EGR yesterday and it was COMPLETLEY CLOGGED UP----seriously clogged closed----sooo im thinking thats why i was getting bad gas milage
the intake manifold and throttle body was black as hell
i went threw 6 cans of carb cleaner
hope cleaning it works for me

it went great
honestley b4 i cleaned it i wud let the car idle---then i just tapped the gas and it wud rev up BUTTTTT then drop below normal and then come back up
after i cleaned it i reved it again and it DIDNT go below normal and it honestley seems to running alot better now
i also ran a can of seafoam threw the intake b4 i cleaned the EGR
now V-TEC seems to sound alot more healthier with my CAI

^^^ I do feel a lot of difference and road noise from crappy milwaukee roads! My coworker doesn't feel any difference (mayba because she drives a '97 escort) after such changes when she drives it, neither does my passengers. On the other hand, I dont really notice (or maybe dont care to know) when im riding as a passenger, which is weird! I think i only pay attention when im driving.

you're lucky to be getting 17. try 13mpg with slow driving, 34psi, egr cleaned, seafoamed in vac line/gas tank, replaced front o2 sensor, replaced purge control solenoid valve, drain/refill coolant, new battery. worst of all.. NO CEL for it!
-plugs replaced 15k ago
-ignition coils replaced 15k ago
-honda atf @ 100k
-oil change @ 105k
feel my pain ): putting gumout/seafoam in my tank actually ate more gas than helped save it..

It could be worse. You could be getting 17 mpg city with about 100 less horsepower.

xtreme-what plugs did you use?
on seafoam- you say vac line and gas tank--how much in tank to gal of fuel?
which vac line--the master vc port at TB ??
or some small line that doesnt feed all 6 cyls?
5 minutes of blast around after drive should not take that much fuel~

free flowing air adds a little mpg,, if you can keep out of vtec
similar to piston aircraft with `ram air intake flap` you open above certain altitude,,say 3000-5000 feet,, above the earths dust layer
that bypasses the air filter to get more air direct to the intake = more power, or reduced throttle setting for mpg

Question on amount of Seafoam in gas tank. Can says one ounce per gallon while it looks like those posting are recommending closer to 1 can per 1/2 tank. Any problem with this doubling the amount recommended on the can?

But wouldn't you be loosing decent torque especially in the low-end/mid-range? J30 vs. J32 6speed.

still havent cleaned the egr..lazy..but every tank i fill to the brim (literally) gives me 300-320 miles from f to e even with a lil squeeze here n there 90 percent city driving

well i took my car outta storage and went from 238 miles from the 1st tank to 317 miles on the 2nd tank and then 350.6 on the 3rd tank
i already cleaned the EGR and im gonna change the plugs this weekend and hopefully i'll get higher then 350 miles to a full tank

And be slower and most likely lower MPG due to the TL being heavier I get 30-32 on the hwy with my modified J32a2. If you are really looking to get better mileage buy a civic.

para- I have been a licensed pilot since before you were born, grew up in a Mooney Super 21 with the Johnson bar for the retracting of landing gear!!
rated to fly from a 152 to King Air turboprop (also SCCA comp racer licensed & scuba rescue diver)
my brother who I ask for help sometimes, is the A&P mechanic in the family and also aerobatic pilot = who trained with a usa aerobatic champion (plus lap record holder and class champion in several auto race classes and series)
between us we can figure most things out--or have done them and know a bit about engine porting-airflow dynamics etc
the way to lean a piston engine on aircraft is to bypass the air filter and allow more free flowing outside air--used above 3000 feet- typical dirt particle altitude limit
See any Mooney and many cessnas for that--where its called RAM AIR
So-No, not all the vents on airplane are exit cooling- some bring in air too! for engine and cabin
Those reverse looking vents on sides of Nascar- those are inlet ducts for interior/driver cooling,,straight off airplanes!!
the way to increase AVAILABLE AIR to the TL engine is the opening of fake foglight (99-01) and remove the intake res--
thats from the mouth of the `20 years with same acura dealer'- `Head Tech` at my dealer--very cool guy willing to share knowledge--also says Legend calipers should be a first mod for performance drivers
having the air available for free pulling by vacuum of intake system -versus the limited size of intake tubes thru res box,,
compare to 2 big open holes on bottem of airbox,
pulling from a large cubic feet of stored air--it runs way better

seafoam can says 1 oz per gal- thats `maitenance dose` per seafoam and good for mid-year cleanup
for `Cleaning Dose`- 2 oz per gal is 1 can to just under 1/2 tank (tank 17.3gal)
It wont hurt anything at 2 per gal,,and more than that wont help clean any better- 2oz per gal is right on
less than 3/4 oz per gal is ineffective -per seafoam,,the can was written many decades ago when cars had very small tanks- 12 gal was average just a few decades ago

do gas tank method twice a few weeks apart, and its the equal of doing the intake manifold vac port,, plus a way to get all the fuel path parts- they are critical
