automatic/manual shift differential

Since the weather got colder the gear shift is hard to manipulate. It doesn't transition well from park to drive, but will go from park to manual fine. I have an '03 TL-S type. Any advice?

Park to Manual (Sport-shift mode) is the same as putting Park into Drive.

Usually, the shift is kinda hard on my TL-S too b/c the car is not warmed up.

when I let the car warm up (3-5 mins.) and allow the RPM to drop to about 650rpm... The change from P to R, or D is much more smoother.
