another rotor question
im a brake noob
so i post a thread a few weeks ago asking if slotted rotors can be turned/resurfaced.
well last night i was in fresno with a couple of buddies who have a car club and we were cruising around. we ran into a pack of modded srt4s and crxs so i messed around with a few..
these were basically stoplights runs(dont flame me for street racing we only hit 55) and i got my brakes heated up to the point where they faded.
on the way home i noticed that when i brake, the vibration in the steering wheel is gone, like the rotor was never warpped..what caused this? was it glazed over? did they need a good heat cycle?
im kinda dumbfounded, but i dont think i need new rotors anymore

I'm not sure technically speaking what happened, but I had this same thing happen to my 2005 Benz C230. It has the big sport brakes (13.6" x-drilled, 2 piston fixed calipers). I replaced the pads and rotors at 53k and after letting a friend drive my car for a few days while I was on a trip, the front end had classic brake rotor warp vibrations. I finally got frustrated and did the bed-in procedure again (like 10 stops from 60mph to 5mph) and the vibration has been gone ever since (currently at 66k).
Anyway, you're not alone.

hmm, im going to give that a try, my rotors are warped like a mofo.
so just do a few 60-0 tests? i dont care if they get warped any more they are so warped anyways, cant hurt.

When I had my 2002 TL the rotors warped like every 5,000 miles. Honda needs to get serious about brakes. That's been the biggest let down with every one of their products I have ever messed with.
My two cars now have brake overkill.

but i was upset with my DBA rotors because they had a warpped feeling after a month and i dont drive hard. i never did 60-5 stops because it wasnt specified by the company
last night was the first time i really push my car to the point of where they faded. the vibration isnt gone, but its damn near non existent.
i cant say mine were warpped..maybe just glazed over because the rotors are meant for mild track use, which i dont do, so they can take abuse.
so i wouldnt reccomend pushing your car based on my expirence unless someone can back me up.
thanks for the input for those who posted

werd about honda needing to get serious about brakes, last time i was at the dealer (stealership) people were calling in every five minutes about there brakes thumping with only a few thousand miles on them, and half the cars on their lifts were getting brakes replaced. i think its the way the stealership makes money.
im going see if i can get anymore life out of my oem rotors, otherwise its time to get drilled and slotted rotora's

It's crazy. I've had several Accords (both 4 and 6 cylinders), a Civic Si (07), and an Acura TL and all had crazy brake issues. Poor fade resistance, poor performance, poor durability. Brakes are Honda's Achilles heel and hopefully they correct this.
