Another ABS/TCS problem.

I tried driving through the snow storm in mid December and Les Schwab ended up giving me the wrong tire chain size and it brok and wrapped around my axle. Since then my TCS/ABS lights have been on. I took it to Acura of Portland to have one of my friends tech buddies take a look at it and he pulled the codes saying it was the speed sensors, which I've read up on, and it seems to be a common problem. My question is how much should they be charging to replace both speed sensors and is it easy enough for a novice to replace or should I leave it to an Acura tech? Thanks for any help.

hold up. first shouldnt use chains on the tl unless thats your ONLY ONLY option. the problem is that the wires ripped from the sensor. someone cut mine and i had the same problem, i just put new wire in its place. or u can buy the whole sensor and the wires that come out of it and plug into an orange plug on the strut towers. a friend at acura told me their about $75 a piece.

its very easy to do yourself. but with what you said that the chains ripped the sensors you should really make sure there not broken at the harness that leads to the sensor plug. ive seen that before, if thats the case buying a new sensor wont fix the problem if the harness is whats broken. jack it up and check it out. if thats not it then replacing the sensors is cake. 1 or 2 10mm bolts hold it up and in the hub once u take those out just spray the sensor with some wd-40 and wiggle it out of the hub.

Thanks for the quick responses. When I took it to Acura of Portland and had the tech take a look at it, we had it on the lift and couldn't find anything. I didn't really know what to look for. I've worked on plenty of Nissans and subaru's but never a Honda/Acura. He got the car off the lift and he cleared the codes and turned the car on and all he said was I need to buy the speed sensor and it'd end up costing around $160.00 for the sensor and install. Is this a fair price or suck it up and do it myself?

Do It Your Self. if the code comes back on after u move the car, the computers not getting a signal back from teh sensor. the wires are either ripped/torn, the connections loose, or the wires inside of the plastic cover are torn and the cover is still in tacked.
