Acura 3.2TL 1999 shutting down while driving
Acura 3.2TL 1999 shutting down while driving
Hi, new here and really not a mechanic. Also sorry for my bad english
So, I have this 3.2tl since 3yrs now. Since couple of months, everything can shut off while I'm driving, ( only the green key logo is flashing when this occurs) I can be on the freeway or I can be idle at redlight
I've searched google and I've found many many threads about my problems, saying it was an ignition switch problem.
But, here are the reasons I believe it's not necessary an ignition switch problem :
-My key is old and all rounded, it's kinda loose in the ignition barrel, but always looked like that for 3yrs.
-I also think it may be the barrel itself, because I found out that only a slight bump on the road can cut the contact of the key in that barrel. Found out that the ''drive the car'' key position and the ''cut the contact'' key postion is really close, like a hair close.
The way I'm driving my car atm : As long as I push the key slighlty to the front, the car wont die, but as soon as I remove my fingers off the key, car dies. So I was thinking it was more mechanic than electric problem.
useless to say that its a pita
so, you guys ever saw this kind of problem ? just want to know because if I bring my car to the dealer, they'll prob make me pay major dollars because they'll smell that i dont know ****, always been like that when I go to a mechanic.

go to any parts store and buy an ignition switch back- the electrical part
i think about 50 dollars
thats the problem with 99s,,got replaced once under recall and fails again 2-5 times in the cars life
simple diy, shown on here
aftermarket part better than dealer part
you may want to get the key part too since yours is very worn out
that can cause problems in addition to the back part
