Ac prob

my a/c temp goes up and down when I stop at red lights and stop signs. If I'm on the highway it blows cold as ice, but when I stop the temperature gage on the dash goes all the way up and the a/c stops blowing cold air until I start moving again. Help?

start with a fan inspection--sounds like the prob
driver side fan operates when temp rises above 1-2 lines below half
usually operates a minute or less at stoplights

passenger side fan come on with ac ON, and the driver side comes on with ac too

is that happening?

on engine temp- is it redlining? 3/4? what exactly? anything over half is bad!!!
ac ON puts additional load on the engine and dumps heat into its radiator- right in front of the engine radiator,,turn ac off when engine temp rises!
turn heater on to add some cold coolant to system and drop temp

next inspect radiator level, rad cap condition, coolant age
but fans are your first thing
If driver fan operates more than 1-2 minute after shutdown with eng at normal temp
you have a bad fan temp sensor A,,very common and causes fan not to run when its needed!
