99' TL periodically stalls
My 1999 TL has stalled a few times while driving. All of a sudden I lose all power and will start back up after a few tries. It just starting doing this but about a year ago it would sometimes start and then immediately shut down as if no fuel. I would be able to restart but on the restart engine would idle rough for a few seconds and then be normal. It has stalled on me several times in the past week but I have always been able to restart. I am thinking it might be the fuel pump or regulator but I have read some posts that it could be the ignition switch. Any thoughts? I really don't want to pull the tank to replace the pump if that is not the problem

Drifting
Probably the PGM-FI relay. Howerver, it wouldn't be a bad idea to change both relay and ignition switch given how dangerous it is when the car dies while being driven.

Mr.Helpful Diagram
When it shuts off on its own, The lights on the dash stay on ? if no thats a faulty ignition switch.

I will have to pay attention to the dash lights if it happens again. It only has happened when starting up or just after I take off. It has not happened after I have been driving for more than 5 mins.

same thing was happening on my TL. It actually died once and wouldnt start at all so had to get it towed back home ( be careful, the stalling got more consistant over time) next morning wouldnt start either, changed the main relay and it started right back up, still having issues with idle though at times and havent driven it more than a couple miles yet and be sure to look into proper procedure for disconnecting baterry, changing relay and idle relearn procedure.

99s got the ignition switch back part with the electrical on it-- replaced 1 time under recall, after that its on the owner the next 3 to 5 times that parts fails in the cars lifetime
First thing I would replace is that!
along with that fuel relay- very common problem as our car ages

Thanks. I checked the recall and my car was not on the list for the recall but I did order up an ignition switch assembly and the relay. Hopefully that will solve the issue.

the 99 ign problem carried into year 2000 cars, surprising a 99 is not on the vin list-
but acura has been known to short the list whenever possible!
does not mean the car is not prone to that problem
Just like the trans warranty vin list- nothing was fixed on that vin!!!
did you order just the back electrical part- thats all you need=and dont have to rekey the car~!

pgm-fi relay
Could not figure out the problem so I took it to a mechanic and discovered that the security system basically locked me out. Somehow when I replaced the relay if messed with the factory security system and it would not recognize my key. Starts fine now. The mechanic recommended that the battery should be disconnected for at least 30 mins before replacing the relay to avoid this problem.

hmm never heard that one on here before!
Anyone else experience lock out/ immobilizer issues after relay job?
What did he do to fix the problem?? How did he figure it out? cost?
Thanks for sharing the 30 minute disconnect tip!
Be Aware! that amount of time will LOCK both the radio and NAV units
The radio automatically locks on battery disconnect- the nav gives you 10-15 minutes before it shuts down
All you need is ITS code, different that the radio security code, and it resets back to normal- nothing lost
