hey ive got a 99 TL with about 130k on it, and lately i have noticed a whining noise coming from it for about a month now. i thought it was the power steering pump because it changed with engine rpm and it sounded like the pump. then I was driving today and my abs and tcs lights came on at the same time, then the instrument cluster started acting crazy, then the cluster went out altogether, soon after that the car started lurching so i pulled off the road. i stopped and tried going again and the engine was revving higher than it should for the speed of the vehicle. then i shut it off and it wouldnt start after that, it just clicks almost like a dead battery. anyone experienced something like this? its a 99 with the 4-speed automatic so i dont think its a tranny issue. my first thoughts are maybe an alternator or battery, or possibly a fuel pump relay or fuel pump? any ideas?

 

check ur battery terminals, and get ur electrical system tested.

 

Sounds like your alternator died.

 

Doesn't sound like an ign. switch failure but has it ever been replaced?
