99 Acura tl tranny problem?
I have a 99 Acura tl just hit 140k miles today, this car started having a problem about one month ago. The problem it has is that every morning I turn on the car let it warm up for about 5 minute and when I put the car in reverse it shuts off... It starte doing it once it would turn off I would turn the car on again and I would shift into reverse and my revs would fall down almost stalling but they would go up again. Yesterday it was different everyte I would put it in reverse it would just shut off it did it about 5 times normaly it would only do it once. Today, it was worst..it did it like 15 times and what I did was I put it in reverse and hit the gas so it wouldn't turn off.
It only does this whenever I turn it on after having the car off for about 6-8 hours. After 15 mins of driving reverse works normal it doesn't stall or nothing.
I also noticed that the lights in the cluster dim down when this happens once the car turns off the lights go back to normal.
I searched just couldn't find anything, any help would be appreciated as this is getting annoying...

Have your battery tested and your alternator tested. The last little bit of your post about the lights dimming leads me to believe its a voltage issue. Start with the battery and have it load tested.
I agree- with our computer controlled everything,,voltage is critical
winters onset brings out a weak battery!
If its more than 3-4 years old,,,pretty much toast
parts stores will test the system for free
note the TL does not like long warm ups..its made to wait 1-2 minutes then go
The ecu runs on fuel- full rich setting to get the cat heated-- so it can switch to fuel economy lean mode. Driving makes it heat faster
for now- back it into your parking space!

Ok it could also be your altenator making that noise, have it tested. I also noticed you had the lights on while shifting from park have you tried it without the lights on? it would be less load on the electrical system.
BTW after 30 minutes of drivig I checked my trannt fluid and its waaaaaaaaaaay overflowed. It is like 2 or 3 cm after the second dot so as of right now I just drained a little fluid and I will report back in the morning to see if it made a diffrence.
