90k Mile Service

So my baby's at the dealer getting serviced for 90000 miles. They just called and said she needed new front and side motor mounts and a timing belt and water pump. They were gonna do the front mount for $400 and the side for $200. The timing & water pump for $1100. Is this reasonable at all?

ask them what's included in the timing belt service, what are the exact parts they replace? you want to make sure they do the idler pulley, tensioner, etc, as if they don't they can fail later and ruin you day! i'll let others chime in on if the mileage is right or not.

my dealership charged about 1400 (including all taxes, fees, etc) for my timing belt and water pump job...but:

a. i probably paid too much...
b. they replaced all the things that needed to be replaced

That seems WAY overpriced....By me the dealership does the timing belt for $389. See below. It is a special but they run it all the time.

However, IDK if that includes the water pump or not.

that's a lot. belts, water pump, and mounts (all four!) cost about $500 bucks... so you're looking at $1200 in labor? for a 4-hour job?

I'd find another shop if your's wants $300 per hour.

I had belts/pumps + mounts (except REAR) installed in just under 4 hours. Lifts speed. Not Jackstand speed.

You can negotiate with the dealer. Always. Threaten to find another shop. There are many small shops around $50-100 per hour.

That's highway robbery. All dealer's service always is more than an independent mechanic. Shop around.
