2k2 TypeS Loses Power while driving
Hi Guys,
Just wondering if anyone has ever experienced what happened to me tonite. Driving down the street at about 40km/h and the car shuts off. I lose all the lights in the instrument cluster (except the speedo, tach, gas and temp) including the part that displays the milelage and the engine goes dead. Strangely, the radio and headlights are still working. I put the car back into park and try to start it, but it won't turn over.
After about 1 minute, the car comes back to life (the guages all light up and my mileage area reappears) and I can restart the car. Seems like this is going to be a hard one to duplicate for the dealer... it has happened to me twice in 3 days now. It isn't a transmission problem because i haven't had any of the known symptoms. Car has about 73,000 km.
thanks!

Sounds like a battery. Get it checked. Mine went at about 70,000 miles, But mine was dimming real bad when my bass hit and at night when everything was running the bass shut the car damn near off a few times. New battery problem solved.
Thanks guys,
Battery Connection seems good. The car is stock, so no big subs or amps drawing extra power. The "eye" on the batter is still green as well. I'm thinking more along the lines of an immobilizer or ECU problem? I'll be bringing it in monday to see what the dealer thinks. (I'm sure they are going to say it is nothing because they won't be able to reproduce it).

i had this happen to me once with my '98 pontiac GTP and it never happened again. weird thing was it happened as i was coming out of a gas station onto a major road and gave it a ton of gas. the car just shut off for no apparent reason as it was accelerating. luckily i pulled it into the next driveway with NO power steering. checked all my battery connections and what not but it was all good. car started right up and it never did it again. weird.
on a similar note i had a bad battery post later which locked the key in the ingnition but everything else was dead while trying to start the car. thinking back they may have been the kulprit.

. Good luck, and let us know what happens
So...... The dealership did a once over and said there was no electrical issues. As it turns out, it has something to do with the Clifford Alarm and the ignition kill. Just took it over to the place where i had it installed and they knew about the problem with the Clifford alarm. Everything is covered under warranty and I'll have a new replacement in 10 days.
Thanks for all the suggestions!
