2002 Acura TL Base model - Window

Hi, I'm Sherry from Virginia, I have a.2002 Acura TL Base model. My driver's side window has been sounding clunky and now it won't roll up. I do not have the money for someone to look at it but my bigger problem is I live in my car. Not by choice of course but it is what it is and it's very cold here at night with all the windows up so it's going to be much worse with not being able to roll it up. Are there some diagrams or something on showing you how to get to the components in the door to see what the problem is so I can see if it's something I can fix myself? I don't have an owner's manual.

Thank you!
Also I noticed that AutoZone sells it only as a set - both regulator and motor so I'm guessing it's explanatory once I do the regulator? (If that makes sense)

How to get window back up

Today my window fell off the track or whatever and will not roll back up. I'll need to take the door panel off in order to pull it up and tape it correct? There's only a tiny bit sticking up, not enough to grab a hold of. Are there any vids out there on how to specifically do it? I've got the vid on how to repair it but it's going to be a few days before I can afford to and it's supposed to get down in the 20s tonight. 🥶 Thank you in advance.

Yes, it will be easiest to remove the door panel so you can push the window up manually

Even if you COULD pull up the window, it's heavy and tape won't hold it up. Then when it drops, you risk breakage. Just use some clear plastic until you can fix it right.

Enough tape will hold it up. I know because I had to do it on the black CL I'm converting when I took it's window regulator for my main blue CL. The tracks have enough friction to help hold it in place a bit. I did use a lot of tape along the entirety of the top of the sill though.

Protip: don't use clear tape. It was a bitch to get off after having sat in the rain & sun for a number of days. It just kept tearing apart, and then left a sticky residue. Duck tape would be worse with it's residue. Painter's tape probably won't work. Aluminum tape would definitely work, but that'd be expensive to use.

honestly, if it were me and i was pulling the door panel off anyway, i would just try to wedge somethign underneath the glass so that it doesnt' fall down rather than use tape

I just bought a 2000 acura tl, and the 2nd day my window did the same thing. After research, I learned if you hear a noise pushing the window switch, then the motor is still good but it could be the window regulator. I went to junk yard and they had one for 50 bucks. The motor and regulator come together so it doesn't matter what is broke. It was a big job, but very doable, if you have the right tools. You need a screwdriver and some duct tape to hold the window up. It took 2 to fix mine.
it also could be in your switch?
But, most likely it's the window. regulator. I live in Florida, and am under medical care. I hope this helps.

you can get a window regulator at a junk yard like I did, and find a young guy who likes to fix things to put it in for you. I followed you tube videos, because its all I knew to do. I had just got a 2000 Acura tl, thinking all original, the only things ylthat could go wrong were cosmedic. Lol. I am on disibility, and have reached out, waited for answers and learned to do alot my self.
I changed my pwn plugs and coils, and was such a great accomplishing feeling. I grew up with my brothercworking on bikes, and mini bikes. It was a lit of fun. I hope you get that window fixed. You cant be sleeping without locked car!! Praying for you!!

Probably late to the party here, but I just did this on my 2002 tl so I thought I'd chime in.
I just replaced the regulator on my passenger side. https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...pt=15596&jsn=1
It wasn't that bad. If you need a stop gap until then, I was able to take the door panel off, disconnect the window from the regulator, and put a bolt and nut in to prop the window up and closed until you can get one ordered. There was a perfect hole to do so and there's a metal piece attached to the bottom of the window that wont break it, it worked great till my parts arrived.
