2000 TL Navigation Code lockout
2000 TL Navigation Code lockout
I have a 2000 TL I bought brand new in 2019 and it's been the best car. I have no plans on selling it. It is in pristine condition with only 70K on it. I plan on keeping it since it's worth more to me than the retail value. Never had any serious problems with it. Just general maintenance and a few bad ignition coils. I really keep it up on appearance and maintenance. However, in the past two years, the digitizer component on my Navi screen began to delaminate under the touchpad. It has the appearance of crackled glass around the edges and the clarity of the screen was discoloring. Rather than pay $1400 for a brand new part, I opted to find a good used one. The used screen worked but the bezel and touch plastic overlay on the digitizer were a little scuffed, whereas my originals are like new. I swapped out the digitizer from the used part and put it on my original. Put it back together, not hard to do, and slapped it in. Turned the car on and it worked like a champ. The screen was crystal clear and all functions worked. A few days later, I was doing other maintenance on the car and disconnected the battery. When I was done, I had to re-enter the radio and navi codes, The radio came back on but the navigation would not take my code. I kept trying over and over and it wouldn't take. Finally, the screen would not even respond to my touch. I have taken it out, reinstalled the screen, even entered my info on the Acura Radio Navigation code retrieval sight and the code is correct. Is there something I could be missing or any way to reset my system to accept the code? I know this must have been discussed before but I haven't found much on the 2000 year which lacked some retrieval features that the 2001 and up models have, such as the Menu, Map, Cancel button method, or the press the 1 and 6 key methods on the radio. Thanks.
Figured it out, I had the battery disconnected for a long period of time. I'm not sure if this caused my system to not recognize my code. I read somewhere that if you put in four zeros, you will gain access to the system. But after you turn the car off, you had to enter the zeros again each time. Then I read in another post, you can go into settings to change your pin. This I did not know. I combined both. After putting in the four zeros, I went into setup to change the pin. I entered my original pin from my owner's manual twice and to my surprise, it worked! I don't know why I had to change my pin to get it to work but I'm glad it did. I called the dealer and they wanted $180 to unlock my system and that's all they had to do? Um.. no thanks to that.
