2000 tl cel
2000 tl cel
So just today my Check Engine Light came on and I didn't even know what it was. So since I just bought it, I have no clue how to work on it.
Well anyways, since the light came on. I got mad, and parked on the side of the road. Turn off the engine, and turn it back on. And it didn't start. So I notice it's the battery. The + was loose and I started it back up and it worked. CEL was gone. (So I think it's because of battery?)
But it was weird, due to the fact that when the CEL was on for the battery, the TCS light came on at the same time. Since CEL went off, TCS is still on. I forgot what I did to make it go away but I think i just turned off the engine and turn it back up again. Somehow it must have reset and probably went away. How could TCS come on? I know I have a TCS button but I didn't even touch nothing.
Plus I don't know if CEL would come on for the battery.
Let me know if you been through this issue before. Or any clue what it might have been.
I just don't want to be driving it and have my car dead on the side of the road.

usually if your cel turns on. the first time it goes on the tcs. it resets after you turn the car off and on. its common. nothing to be worried about. only worry about your cel turning on. the traction control just turns on cuz thats how the system works.
with a loose positive battery cable, the ecu was getting freaky signals and throwing false codes
all it knew for sure was something was wrong,, so it got your attention!
you can reset the ECU now- do it just to clear all messed up info
by removing the CLOCK fuse- located on end of dash -passenger side
open car door for access--leave out a minute and insert fully
