Question 2000 3.2tl dptc p0780. help111

I have trouble code p0780 and i was wondering if anyone had some experince with this code. i get that its a shift malfunction but what does it mean? do i need a new tranny? It drives fine untill the tcs light comes on and the D5 indicator in the dash starts flashing and the car barely will pull. i have to shut it of for a few seconds and start it back up and it will be fine untill it does it again. i dont get what its doing. please any info would be great. Thanks

Wow- 1st post, full trans failure symptoms, right on the edge of time limits...
Please tell me its not salvage title!

Whats the mileage reading now?
Call the dealer and tell them you have blinking D5 TCS lights and it feels like the transmission is slipping.
Warranty to 7years+9 months since first date in service or 109,000 miles as long as car is not salvage title.

Question

no the car doesnt have a salvage title. i had it to the acura dearlership once and the told me that it was a bad tranny and had to be replaced. they said in there report that the tranny barely pulls when cold and needs to be replaced. thats a lie bc the car drives fine untill that blinking d5 shit starts. i dont know what to tell them or what to do about it. they are being real assholes about the car. it has just a little over 105xxx miles and is 8 years old. they told me that it wasnt covered under that extend warranty. thanks for the info and anymore would be great. thanks once again

i think you should be fine for a warranty job. search around the other tranny failure thread, you have to call the Acura Regional people i think. and then they'll talk to the dealership for you. cuz you are under the mileage and barely over the time limit. alot of guys here have gotten the warrant transmission in way worse circumstances. search in the tranny thread for the number to call. good luck

If you talked to the Service Manager with no results, call the Acura Care customer service and explain the situation. They can usually get you covered as you are under on mileage. Not by much but you're still under. If you haven't spoken with the Service Manager, speak with him directly. If he's not there, find out when he is. Just be polite and ask him if there's anything he can do. They can cover completely if they want. Mine was done a few months ago and I was over on time but under on mileage. Hope you get it worked out.

7 years plus 9 months from first date of service - NOT date of build- the actual DATE it was sold and hit the roads- acura 800 can tell you that date OR 109k miles whichever came first.

They documented it as failed in DEC- and you want to argue about when driving its funky??
Because you went in Dec and they diagnosed- why wasnt the trans replaced then on full warranty???? Manager or writer did not explain it was free to you?
YOU wait 5 months until out of warranty??? ---why?
Service MANAGER is who you talk to, and remind of prior visit and your total misunderstanding of the warranty program
Acura 800 is drones who answer phones- they may take your christmas orders too for all we really know
They read from a book and many just go away and dont fight

What date does acura 800 tell you was the cars first date of service?
Thast when the 7year+9month starts from- not the build date
Car may have sat months before sale.

Usually they will go 75-90 percent they pay on barely out of warranty limits.
You have to be nice, and sometime patient
Were you a pain when you went in? angry loud abusive- I get 8 years warranty!!!!!!!!

Did you talk with the SERVICE MANAGER of the dealership- or just the service writer/advisor
Thats where you need to go
And that 1st date of service- need to know that
acura will lowball offer and you kep going up the chain from there

you want the dealership on your side- go in person and speak with THE SERVICE MANAGER
not anyone else- that person talks to acura on your behalf, at the local regional warranty rep level
Explain things just like you did here and ask the manager for help
see the thread by phee, who took his 99 in late last year- out of warranty and they covered 90 percent for him!!
print that thread out and mention how acurazine.com has many stories of acura stepping up to help- and you are not gettting any help
Mentioning how loudly you complain on the internet copmplete with dealer name and location- so others know whats going on,
and that a happy customer tells 2 people, while an unhappy customer goes online and tells MILLIONS

your other choice is a aamco rebuild of yours at $2500

I have to admit the first time I read this thread I was sure it was a banned member coming back to play a joke-
no one could possibly have all the symptoms and not understand what was going on--- with the amount of info available just on this internet forum!!
Actually I used part of it as my sig-!!
