1999 TSL fans don't work/ ac-heat as well

i have a 1999 TLS a couple of days ago while driving with my air on i noticed a burning smell. thought it was another car or i was passing a refinery so i turned on the recycle button.

went home. next day i start my car, turn on the air and heard a "click", no blower. heat, same. popped the hood and noticed the fans were not turning. turned off the air and the fans still didn't turn. got mad, made a drink, sat it out. next morning i checked the fuse, nada. but.. for a brief second(7) the air came on and fans turned while air was off. happy! then nothing. please help me if you can with any suggestions that i can take to my mechanic. thanks.

i would call the person who sold me the car and ask why they lied to you and said it was a Type S

sounds like an electrical issue if it comes on and off.. just get it fixed.. the heat aint worth waiting to save a few bucks on DIY

yeah Rockstar. got a great deal actually, no one lied to me it was my "personal joke". the "s" that is, and it doesn't work off and on, it is not working period. i think the quick and brief moment they worked for 7 seconds was a fluke before they totally died. they are dead.

electrical is what i am thinking, but maybe, just maybe it can be something else. that is why i posted here. as you know, they work on the obivious, then there is a possibility the problem is elsewhere. so, to save some cash i posted in hopes that someone had the same problem, and it could save time and money for me. i will make another drink and chill.

thanks,
M

Although i dont think it was a joke.... we use red text
for any sarcasm or joking.. just so nobody THINKS your trying to pull a fast one on us... for future reference.

does your AC come on, but just not the fans?

if so you could just have a bad fan motor. which isnt a big deal or a wallet breaker.

if the AC unit itself isnt coming on. then you could be looking at some cash.

either way, have a shop LOOK at it first. it shouldnt set you back too much money and they can tell you exactly what you need.

hey guys, thanks for the advice. the problem is solved. motor burn out. parts will be here tomorrow and my girl will be repaired by tomorrow afternoon. good news, put just a couple hundred out of pocket.

Rockstar, totally understand about the forum and courtesy etc. but when you turn 34 and have four kids, one in college two on their way, i really didn't place much importance on my "joke". thanks for the advice. i really dig this forum.

now onto wash and wax forum. thanks again.

Just for future reference the fans under your hood have NOTHING to do with the air blowing in the car.

Is it the actual blower motor or is it the wiring harness. Dont get over charged. Our cars have been known to occasionally melt the harness plug that goes into the blower motor. Nothing is wrong with the motor, they only need the harness plug.

excellent! i was waiting on a reply that would save $$$. i will call him first thing this morning. they won't have the part till 12 noon, so it shouldn't be a problem. i asked him to check really well first, and we had a few phone conversations(hence the drinks and just hanging out at home today). i grew up around a repair shop and the client/mechanic relationship is a very peculiar thing. so, while i am sure he has my best interest(family friend and great mechanic) there are times when a shop guy simply tunes out the chatter. LOL.

thanks,
misty
