1999 TL Data link connector

I need some assistance locating the OBD II data link connector on my 1999TL so I can plug in my code reader and find out why my check engine light is on. Can anyone help?

Welcome to Acurazine!

It's behind a small plastic panel forward of the shift lever in the small storage cavity. The panel pops right out but it might take a minute to figure out where it is.

Thanks, Bob. I found the connector. The codes I got were P1491 & P0401 which both seem to relate to the EGR system. Have you seen this before?

You're welcome.

Try a search of these forums for those codes.

For your codes i would try cleaning the EGR port out. Follow this link for removal and cleaning.
then reset the ecu (pull the clock backup fuse on the passenger side dasn fuse panel for 10 min) and see if the light returns

I have to give this thread a bump because, for the life of me and three other people, I can not find this darn OBD plug. I looked for the small panel that Bob was refering to, but still can not locate it. Can somebody please give me idoit proof directions. I have an 02 tl-s. I'm talking, what side, have far up, do I take off other panels to get to this panel etc.

THANKS!
