1999 3.2 TL factory radio won't play burnt CD's
I bought my daughter a nice 1999 3.2 CL. She loves everything about the car with the exception of the CD player. It won't play burnt CD's. I just need to know if the newer 6 disc CD changer stereo will play the burnt CD's. If it will, what year models will work in the 1999 3.2 TL?

Yes, I screwed up. I meant to type 1999 3.2 TL instead of CL. Thanks for the replies guys. Will any 6 CD changer from a second generation TL work or will I have to find one for a 1999 model?

You can find these in the Black Market forum, ebay, and at http://car-part.com/

Make sure its for the TL and not the CL. The CL looks just like it from the front, but wont work.

Thanks for the great info guys. She loves the car except for the CD player and she wanted a spoiler also. I found a brand new factory spoiler in the correct color from an Acura dealer up north for about $130.00. This will make it her perfect car.

It does read burn cd - the catch is that it works best when burn on a 4x cdr (if you can still find these, and no, ebay don't have them). NOT 4x burn rate - i mean the cd rating is 4x - like those made back in the 90s. 8x/12x cdr will work too, but not as well - it might take a few seconds for the cd player to read it. 48x cdr - forget it. Sucks doesn't it - how cheap of a cd player did Acura gave us???!!!! btw, mine is a 2K TL

The cd player in my '03TL worked for about a year and a half and then stopped, it wouldnt play cds period. Bought a panasonic headunit of cardomain about a year ago for $210 and lovin it, and all i had to do was buy a $5 cable to be able to hook up my mp3 player to the aux. plugs in the back.

this was brought up earlier here and it the cd player does play fujifilm and sony cds. hope that helps.
tha only downside is that it takes a while 2 read the cd and if u skip songs a lot there will b a long silence until the song u skipped to plays.

SOMETIMES if I open my windows/sunroof/cellphone rings, the damn cd player plays. Don't ask me why or how, but i'm guessing it has to do with cabin air pressure/cellphone frequency/deep resonance noise.

Heres the solution................Only sony burned cd's work. Or do the easiest thing, buy an IPOD, get the tape player adapter (same tape player adapter for cd player walkmans), plug it in, and thats it!

sony cd's work ? really? any speed? i've got to buy some and try. [and prove you wrong ! ]
ipod is a good alternative. only drawback is:
it's not digital. it's analog. sound is definitely not as clear. ESPECIALLY when you have the song on at low volume, you can hear the "shek shek shek shek" sound of the tape cassette inner arrangements moving inside the deck.
and the FM modulator for the ipod is pretty crap too.
sigh.
I don't like shek shek and sik sik sounds.

Sony's work, just not as good as good as you think. I dont remember what speed they are, but I know they were the expensive. Like $1 a cd, they usually come in a 10 pack, I'll find out more about it though.

Speaking of playing burnt CD's when I burn a CD and try to play it on my 2000 TL, loading the first song takes forever to load and all you hear is the CD spinning (sometimes a full minute before it starts playing) but once the music starts playing it goes to the next song no problem, unless you try to skip then it starts the loading process all over again. Is this normal or should I burn it in a certain format? I don't want the long loading process to wear out the cd player lol.

1 problem with this solution, if you over-use the tape deck adapter it wears it out much quicker and a lot of people on the forums complain that their tape decks no longer work after using the adapter constantly as an AUX jack to their phone. Just an FYI
