So I had signs of transmission failures so a brought it to a Friend's family mechanic. I brought him the car and it wasn't shifting to 3rd gear at all. He said he'll change the transmission oil. He did and the oil was burnt but afterward said it was running smoothly.He also said he brought it in to reset the transmission ecu or something and it removed the CEL and the yellow triangle. I come pick up the car to find that NONE of the gears work. Is there any way to get it running? I just wanna be able to get it to a transmission shop without towing it.

 

Can you engage it in Sport Shift mode?

what fluid did he use? Dextron3? that will finish off a trans
what method--power machine or gravity drain and refill of 3 to 3.4 qts of HONDA atf

must have the correct amount and type of fluid to work

 

He probably meant he can move the shifter stick to R,D5,D4,..., but the tranny doesn't engage the gears.

 

When my 2nd tranny died, it wouldn't engage reverse or 5th gear. My first trans couldn't hit any forward gears - both spit out error code P0730.
